Appeals court to rule if Jussie Smollett should stay in jail
ABC News ^ | 16 March 2022 | DON BABWIN

Jussie Smollett's attorneys want the actor released from jail while they appeal his conviction of lying to Chicago police about a racist and homophobic attack and the 150-day jail sentence a judge handed down

The way Smollett's attorneys see it, such an order is justified because it's almost certain that Smollett would complete his 150-day jail sentence — which could shrink to 75 days if he behaves himself in jail — before the appeals on the conviction and sentence are decided. They also say it's important that Smollett be released because they are worried about his mental health if he remains in protective custody in jail and are concerned that he could be attacked by other inmates.

That tells me that the 150 day sentence was far too short.

How many days per felony again?

I will laugh if he gets out on appeal and then re sentenced to 3 years

” .... appeal his conviction of lying to Chicago police about a racist and homophobic attack ...”

That’s total fake news. He did not lie about a racist and homophobic attack. There was no such attack; it was a hoax he, himself, perpetrated. ABC could do better. But they won’t.

But then there is Alec Baldwin. A normal person would be going through a manslaughter trial.

He’ll be released, “in the interest of ‘justice’,” while his appeal languishes in the court system for 3 years. Hoping everyone will have forgotten about that by then.

So, so oppressed. So oppressed that he was able to land the lead in a somewhat successful (in certain quarters) TV drama for 3 years. What a decrepit life.

Why would he get a free pass? He committed a genuine hate crime - he committee fraud. He wasted law enforcement’s time. He the DA’s time. He wasted the court’s time. He wasted taxpayer dollars. All for his phony race-baiting, Trump-hating antics.

Eventually, one of these judges will be the Weak Link and cave. Unless the first Judge says no and does not consult any other judge about it.
Even if Jussie were to be released tonight, his name, reputation and credibility will always be damaged except for the extreme CRT believing zealots.

Some people really don’t want him to take responsibility for his actions. They are the ones who are continually blaming Whitey for their self-inflicted failures.

He’s not even in a week and they are already trying to get him out. The legal system and those who participate it in are a joke. Here is reality; I have absolute proof of wring doing in a county court in a case I was involved with. My Attorney is aware of it and knows I am correct. I asked him and every other Attorney in the county to intervene, nobody would. Bottom line, they all know the wrong doings that occur and don’t have the desire to correct it.
