Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg on Monday pushed a transition to green energy and electric cars as Americans face record high prices at the pump. As gas costs soar and more workers are returning to the office as covid numbers fall, President Biden's administration announced a $3.7B boost for public transportation, including an investment in new fleets of electric buses. 'We are all in the midst of a turning point. We have the technologies to transition to a zero emission fleet,' Harris said during the announcement. 'We can address the climate crisis and grow our economy at the same time. Transit gets riders where they need to be efficiently and affordably with far less pollution. It's even good for drivers of cars because it means less congestion and traffic on our roads. And transit is even better when it's clean transit with modern electric buses that don't pollute at all.'
Neither official mentioned gas prices: AAA reported Sunday that the national average for a gallon of gas hit $4.009 -- the highest since 2008. On Monday, the average price hit $4.10 a gallon, according to GasBuddy. Also a factor is cost. The average transaction price for an electric vehicle is $56K according to Kelley Blue Book, which is about $10K higher than the overall industry average for a new vehicle.

Make no mistake, this is all about forcing people to buy electric cars and windmills. What will it take to stop these fascists from destroying our economy and country?
They lock up law abiding citizens who stand against their fascism, look the other way when the criminals among them are investigated.
“Where Justice Ends Tyranny Begins”
Kakistocracy
A kakistocracy is a government run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens. The word was coined as early as the seventeenth century.
You project the past failing to recognize the future. The future is upon us and it is Tesla.
What is or is about to be is the Tesla disruption that is changing everything. There will be EV’s that are affordable and using the Tesla system will be easily recharged. For everyone? no. For urban commuters and such, certainly
For the record, mass transit will ride on electric trains. The technology is tried and true. In Europe, that is already the rule. Will it come here? maybe not. Natural gas powered busses might be better
What’s interesting is that the democrats are promoting companies that employ UAW workers. Those companies have lost their market share and are just hanging on. Only Ford trucks, electric trucks, will be a factor. Biden chose not to invite the biggest and best EV maker to his meeting. In so doing he demonstrated his slavish tie to Labor that is absolutely doomed.
I am not a Tesla cheerleader and will not buy one. I collect facts and present a finding
And next time, they will be told.
It had to reach this point - where we are being FORCED to convert. It of course, won’t stop here.
They will do all they can to raise the price of gas-powered transportation. Rising parts prices, tires are going up, and they may extend the EPA monitoring period for older vehicles.
You may think your 20 year old truck is safe since it’s past the EPA inspection period, but I’m expecting them to expand it to catch and make undrivable older vehicles. Can your car/truck still pass?
I’ll second that. I used a combo of train and bus for a while and the clientele shift from suburbs to city was stunning. Fights, homeless, druggies, sketchy types who looked like they wanted to rob you... When your mode of transit requires a police officer on board, chose another way to travel if you can.
Don’t get me wrong...I do think EVs are kinda cool. I’d love to drive one to see what it’s like. But I have to face reality: I’ll NEVER be able to afford purchasing one.
And... having had to ride busses and trains in the past, I know what kind of people ride them. That was 10 years ago...and it’s gotten worse.
So buying a 70k car that destroys the environment is going to save Mother Earth…these people are insane…
They’re not tone deaf. This is all deliberate, having been planned years ago...to coincide with Clinton’s election, thus a continuation of Obama’s plans to fundamentally change America. Trump got in the way...for awhile. But now, it’s full-steam ahead; there’ll be no letting go by the left at this point. Our government is so corrupt and delusional. God have mercy on the good people of this land. We are in for a long, painful fight because of corruption and evil hearts.
Until a couple years ago, my state (Washington) had yearly emission inspections. They stopped doing them and are no longer required. They also had exemptions for vehicle older than a certain date (I can’t remember when the cut-off was.)
Do I think they could start them up again? Oh, yeah.
Good luck fighting and winning wars using only solar and wind. National suicide.
Two of the bigger dummies in our government. Wonder how those crybabies who didn’t like Trumps tweets feel now. Them and cheating are responsible for the mess we’re in now. Hope they’re happy.
Not to acquit them of malevolence, but they are also profoundly ignorant and lack the reasoning ability of your average fifth grader.
Elon Musk just yesterday opposed a sudden transition to EV.
As should anyone with a speck of functional gray matter.
It’s logistically impossible at this point
We are still subject to those inspections in SE Wisconsin (where the bulk of our pollution blows in from Chicago)
These people are so tone deaf. Do they realize that they have doubled gas and oil prices? Do they think that’s what will get people to buy a $60,000 battery car?
I’m surprised that they stopped it. In my state, the EPA requires testing until 25 years after manufacture, most states require it for 20. But, it is an easy, bureaucratic method to drive a number of older vehicles off the road.
Unless you’ve replaced the high-mileage engine, it very likely will not pass the original testing.
They keep doing and saying & doing stupid stuff and Jan. 6th will look like a picnic(that’s not a threat, just an observation).
I do not think they realize what the temperament of the American public will look like in 6-8 weeks of hyperinflation. The public can see it coming now and it is obvious the Biden regime is doing nothing to stop it. Every thing they are doing adds fuel to the fire.
And yes, we are in the first wave of hyperinflation already.
I'd like to get an EV - either a car or maybe a motorcycle. I'm an engineer and a bit of a gadget geek. I think it'd be fun and useful in many ways. It'll be even more fun when the technology matures a bit more and some of the impediments are removed.
However, right now I can no-longer even consider an EV. The current illegal administration's policies have seen to that.
Because of their covid vaccine mandates I was forced to change jobs rather than risk my health and life by taking an experimental vaccine. I now have another job, but with any new job comes additional risk. So for now I am proceeding cautiously in other aspects of my life. That means no big purchases.
It is obvious the current illegal administration loves tyrannical control over our lives. This includes interfering in businesses. You {censored} love picking winners and losers. Right now there's no way of knowing which companies are, or are going to be most favored. No way of knowing who is on the "outs" with you and going to be mercilessly stomped out of business. That's your MO. So I could not begin to trust any particular manufacturer's long-term stability. Maybe if you made the payoffs you're obviously getting from various big companies and governments public we'd know who the winners and losers are going to be too.
The inflationary policies enacted by the current illegal administration have taken away all my disposable income and then some. We are tightening belts. Thinking about a new car, truck, or motorcycle of any kind, ICE or EV is out of the question. So we'll keep our years-old vehicles. Gosh cackler, unintended consequences eh? You're bungling attempts to push people towards greener transportation actually has the net result of people continuing to use older, less efficient transportation. You're a failure.
You want to hasten our journey towards greener energy and transportation? You need to get the economy moving - no, actually moving not just inflation. Basically reverse or rescind every single thing you've done. Then publicly admit the election was stolen, and turn over the Executive Branch to President Trump. The economy will take off like a rocket. Technology will advance. People will have money in their pockets and be ready to try EVs etc. Anything else, and you're moving us in the wrong direction.
well stated. But Brandon is demented and being controlled by radical Leftists.
