NATO rules out Ukraine no-fly zone: 'Painful decision'

NATO nations will not impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine, despite pleas from some in Ukraine.

Secretary Jens Stoltenberg called it a "painful decision," saying that NATO has a responsibility not to escalate the conflict by engaging Russian forces directly in Ukraine, either on the ground or in the air.

Enforcing a no-fly zone would involve NATO planes in Ukraine potentially shooting down Russian planes, Stoltenberg said Friday. President Biden's administration has likewise ruled out such a move, saying it is "not going to happen."

RUSSIA INVADES UKRAINE: LIVE UPDATES

"We understand the desperation, but we also believe that if we did that, would end up with something that could end in a full-fledged war in Europe involving many more countries and causing much more human suffering," he said.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this week that the West should consider a no-fly zone, and Ukrainian member of Parliament Lesia Vasylenko said Friday that a no-fly zone is "the only thing we need right NOW."

The war in Ukraine will likely be "worse" in the coming days, "with more death, more suffering, and more destruction, as the Russian armed forces bring in heavier weaponry and continue their attacks across the country," Stoltenberg said.

NATO is strengthening its ties with non-member nations Finland and Sweden, Stoltenberg said. He condemned the Russian attack on a nuclear power plant in Ukraine, calling it "reckless."

The head of the International Atomic Energy Administration said that no radiation was released in the attack, and that a fire at the plant was extinguished.

Trump: "There should be no war waging now in Ukraine, and it is terrible for humanity that Biden, NATO, and the West have failed so terribly "

Where’s NATO’s complaint about Russia enforcing a ‘no-fly’ zone over international waters in the Black Sea? Hmmm?

I can’t wait until Putin attacks the baltics and Poland so you can keep lying about Putin just wanting a buffer from the West.

You idiots who justify destroying countries because it will make Putin feel better about NATO (which threatens no one) - are ignorant immoral savages.

You’re also anti American at this point.

Sad.

“Doesn’t that constitute a surrender?”

No, it constitutes NATO is wising up. The Ukraine can’t win the war if Putin decides to level the place. Leveling the capital city is not going to do anyone any good especially when Putin is after the oil and natural gas. Putin can make miserable for Europe and us with withdrawing the exports they have. They are backed by China who is assisting them with wheat purchases, basically, to provide operation funds. And NATO can’t do anything to Putin he can’t do to them because of it. Sometimes it’s better to cut your losses and withdraw.

“Why would anyone trust what the US and EU governments tell them?”

You don’t. You validate anything said by any government. Especially the criminal regime in Russia that’s run by a train station whore.

No, failing to help a country under attack doesn’t “prove” it was never a real country.

I said claims of protecting Ukraines so-called sovereignty are a fraud. In 2013, a "sovereign" and duly-elected Ukraine President said "No, we don't want to join the EU under terms offered."

What happened then? A CIA/Soros color-revolution to overthrow that President. What about their "sovereignty" then? Ukraine has at turns belonged to Hungary, Poland, Russia, Romania, and after 1991, it bounced between the USA and Russia. Claiming "sovereignty" after 2014 is ignoring 300 years of history. Ukraine is still a political play thing and strategic tool. the USA has used it as such and has violated its sovereignty as much as anyone else.

You don’t want to get involved, you support Putin, that’s on you.

Correct. the USA involvement is asinine and dangerous. It will harm average Americans - it already is. As to Putin - I wouldn't want to live under his control, but I haven't swallowed the cheap MSM propaganda about him either. My relatives who hate Trump are convinced he is controlled by Putin, because Pelosi, MSNBC and CNN have said so. Do you believe that too?

Backward people on here love to reverse reality to conform to their fantasies.

I’ve always thought it weird how Americans will be tearing their hair out about danger on Europe’s doorstep while Europe sits on its butt singing “Imagine”.

You’re lying now about what you said.

I don’t care. You’re an un-American Russian nazi lover.

I would never listen to a fool like you where America’s security is involved.

Your hard on for Vladimir Putin is so strong you should get a hotel room.

Sickening supporter of murder.

No one said Europeans are not fools. That’s obvious. The issue is our security interest in Europe. That interest is profound.

Stop watching TV. Truth.
Russia wants a buffer from the West. Truth.
This war could have been prevented but was agitated by the Deep State. We don't need WW3 right now.

I think NATO made the right choice at this point.

I also think that come three years from now, a lot of folks are
going to look back on this point in time, and be mortified who
they decided to back in this situation.

I oppose Putin’s invasion. So maybe I’ll be the one. We’ll see
won’t we.

I’m not a fanboy of the Ukraine’s leader. I am a supporter
of national borders. The Ukraine was invaded without real
cause or threat.

Deal with that however you want folks. Just deny what is
going on is going on.

What about the risk to Putin that his planes would get shot down and he would run out of fighter jets?

Isn't anyone assuming that his air forces aren't in any better shape than his ground forces?

Ever hear of Lt. Col. Vindman, who figured prominently in the peach-mint of President Trump?

He was from the Ukraine, and bragged he’d been offered the position of their Minister of Defense.

Hunter Biden and one of John F’in Kerry’s kids, and the children of a couple other top DC swamprats, we’re working for Ukrainian Energy Companies.

Remember Joe Biden’s “Son of a B, he got fired” quip about the Ukrainian official looking into corruption involving the US?

You are acting like a fundamentally brainwashed , or dishonest, or stupid, person.

Stop binge-watching CNN and MSNBC for a change.

And put down your dog eared copy of Hal Lindsey.

There are more relevant facts than the ones you have been limiting yourself to so far.
