My guess without reading about it, is that the plant was scrammed in advance and is in a quiescent state not generating power or in danger of a runaway reaction.

That would have been prudent. But, this cluster of six plants provides something like a quarter or a third of the Ukraine's power. Scramming all plants in the facility would have to produce massive blackouts, which so far, I haven't heard about.

So why did Bush invade Iraq (a SOVERIGN country)

Because he was stupid and believed the warmongering propaganda. Iraq should've never been invaded, they were never a threat to the U.S. and were keeping Iran in check. (The mullah's feared Hussein, that crazy bastard.)

Why did US invade Vietnam?

Do you want the entire history or the typical "to fight communism" response? Pick one.

Why did US invade Afghanistan?

To take out Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of 9-11 who along with his co-horts were shielded by the Government of Afghanistan and later in Pakistan (where he was eventually killed.)

Immediately after killing Bin Laden in Pakistan we should've left Afghanistan, and unlike that fucking moron Biden, should've taken all our equipment with us. Nation building should never be done by a military who's sole purpose is to break things and kill people.

Govt of Afghan did not send pilots to send in tall buildings.

They harbored and shielded those who did and if you refuse to acknowledge that fact, this discussion is over.

Do you know history of Ukraine & Russia going back 300 years?

Yep, do you want all of it? The history of the past 300 years is irrelevant. Ukraine is a globally recognized Sovereign Nation. Russian invasion is wrong. The sane world (exceptions: China, Iran, North Korea, Syria) stand against it.

Maybe not. It’s a big gamble when there’s 6,000 nuclear weapons at stake.

One would hope that the question would come up:

PLANT SUPERVISOR: "Uh, okay. Here is the situation. We have Russian troops within artillery range by 1500 this afternoon. Do we want to continue to generate power until we see the whites of their eyes and risk a hit on the power to the control room or control room itself (which would make it impossible to lower the rods except manually with gravity) or even a hit to something that might damage the ability to lower the control rods themselves at all resulting in explosions, meltdowns, and complete destruction and radioactive contamination of the entire country and the world..., or do we cut off the power, lower the rods in now before they get in range to do any artillery damage to prevent that. Show of hands please for those who want to keep the rods up until the Russian invaders can begin hitting us with explosive shells or they come down the road?"

WORKERS: (one hand is raised, everyone turns their heads slowly to look at who it is)

PLANT SUPERVISOR: "Right. You can put your hand down, Igor. Er, all those who want to put the rods down now, cutting off power to hundreds of thousands of people, but preventing explosions, meltdowns, and complete destruction of the plant and radioactive contamination of the entire country and the world...raise your hands please."

WORKERS: (Everyone raises their hands, even Igor)

PLANT SUPERVISOR: "Igor, you can't vote twice."

You do realize this was false information, right?

One administrative building was on fire. Firefighters put it out. The reactors were not hit, nor even targeted.

Sure, that’s the way it ought to go.

But if it did, how come we haven’t heard about “power outages throughout the Ukraine after precautionary shutdown of six nuclear plant cluster?”

That is a valid question (and I don't watch the news, but wondered how people were doing) and I found this map:

There are a few large non-nuclear power generation plants that could still put out power. Granted, that one is huge (6 GW!) but it isn't the only source.

Vladimir Putin now has Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia. He has his hostages. He will ransom this way, you will understand what the NWO/WEF and the Jihad Junta really are…or else.

Did the Russians shell an operating nuclear power plant?

“Did the Russians shell an operating nuclear power plant?”

Not the nuclear power plant itself. Russiand Ukraine agreed to a ceaee dire at the plant, to avoid catastrophe. Ukraine troops broke it, by launching RPG’s at Russian troops.

The Russians firsd back, and immediately all the gaslighters screamed, “Russia is targeting a nuclear reactor plant!!!” and lied about “We’ve detected increasing radiation from it!!!”

Pure evil, whoever fired first. Agreed?

It was a setup. Lies like this can easily lead to emotionality reactive military action from side players, which is what Ukraine is counting on. They’re masters at disinformation. Russia is, too, but this all was caught on video, and Ukraine troops shot first.

Ukraine is willing to start WWIII, and wants us to join in. They’re not saints. They’re as bad as Russia, imo, probably even more corrupt, and we should stay the hell out of it.

If the Russians wanted to take out the plant, they would have bombed it from the air. A very simple operation.

Ukraine is playing us, and the world.

The fire was in an administrative building, where training takes place. Not the main plant, which has 6 reactors I believe.

Who started the fire, and why? Who would gain?

Well, the Ukrainians didn’t fake the huge buildup of Russian troops that subsequently invaded, or “special actioned” after Putin kept saying that they were withdrawing. The Ukrainians didn’t threaten to blow up the world, Putin did. The Ukrainians have no interest in losing 25% of their electric in the middle of their capitol city.

Putin intentionally shelled an operational nuclear power plant. Do you really not see the import of his message here? If we respond with fear we're done.

You seem to want us not to respond to Putin's shelling the largest nuke plant in Europe. It seems to me that you're searching for some ego-saving way out - like the plant wasn't operational (never mind the large amount of dirty bomb materials stored there). The psychopathic mind of Vladimir Putin wants you to do violence to yourself - by lying to yourself - in order to avoid confronting the full import of his actions.

We must respond now.

Not that I think we will - all of our leaders are playing the same game of denial that you are.

JESUS CHRIST take a valium

The NEOCON warhawk HYSTERIA needs to stop NOW.

Your reading comprehension skills suck. I never said the Russians were the innocent party here. Both Ukraine and Russia are corrupt and behaving despicably. I just refuse to engage in the idea of “Poor little Ukraine. They were just minding their own business when big bad Russia decided to invade and destroy them.”

The history of the two countries is complicated and long. I suggest you spend some time reviewing it before reaching your silly conclusion that Ukraine is the victim here and we should spill the blood of America’s sons and daughters defending them.

You get no argument from me. It shows you’ve done some research and actually know what’s going on in the area, unlike many of the freepers who believe every sob story the media propagates. 😖

I guess it escapes you that the only “shelling” involved was with PARACHUTE FLARES to illuminate the parking lot at the facility’s perimeter?

Here… you can buy some to familiarize yourself:
