Every candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump in Texas’s Republican primaries have either won or are substantially leading their races as of 11:00 p.m. ET, potentially solidifying Trump’s kingmaker status in the first primaries of 2022.
The 45th president gave his stamp of approval — a much coveted prize among Republican hopefuls — to 33 candidates. Polling out of Texas has already shown that GOP voters are more likely to support candidates who have passed Trump’s muster.
The former president released a statement celebrating his late night victory:
Big night in Texas! All 33 candidates that were Trump endorsed have either won their primary election or are substantially leading in the case of a runoff. Governor Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick have won in a landslide. Thank you, and congratulations to all!
Trump’s endorsement secured the nomination of incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who faced fierce primary opposition from former State Sen. Don Huffines and former State Party Chairman Allen West. He also lifted two of House Republicans’ top recruits to the nomination without a runoff: Monica De La Cruz and Wesley Hunt, who are both at 56 percent with well over half the votes counted.
The Texas primaries are the first regularly scheduled primary elections in the 2022 cycle, making it the first opportunity to test the power of Trump’s endorsement post-presidency. As Breitbart News previously reported, how Trump fares on these races could influence how aggressive he gets in future primaries elsewhere in America.
“After incredible success with President Trump’s endorsements up and down the ballot last year, all 33 of President Trump’s endorsed candidates came in first tonight – an unprecedented start to the 2022 midterms,” President Trump’s former White House Political Director Brian Jack told Breitbart News.

Rick Santorum was on Newsmax last night, crowing that two GOP reps who voted FOR the Jan 6 sham committee investigation, won handily. Santorum touted that as a signal that Trump was not as popular or strong as Trump supporters think.
The swamp is strong with Santorum.
Again +1. Gohmert was my choice, but the state GOP apparatus did not agree. I expect the spending floodgates to open for P and the ads to go severely negative on Paxton.
“The swamp is strong with Santorum.”
When push came to shove, he was always a phony.
For the first time in my life I didn’t mind standing in line.
The line for Republicans to vote was 30 minutes, while Democrats could walk right up and get their ballot.
You have to believe MAGA enthusiasm is extremely high, and voters are highly motivated. The GOPe is freaking out.
I was hoping that we would be done with political TV commercials until November.
Sad to see “do nothing” Abbott won.
I didn’t know Crenshaw was being primaries. I forgot that he was up.
Crossover dems in our primary. Sorority wants dem AG’s.
If you crossover in the tx primary, then in a runoff you must crossover too. Hopefully more true conservatives and republicans will come out in the runoff. Soros and deep state are behind Bush.
Trump is President Emeritus
P is such a pathetic joke. A junior lawyer with a name and limited experience who thinks they can be the top legal guy in one of the biggest states in the US. The sense of entitlement is staggering.
....I thought the voting results for this nitwit were slightly above 500,000 or so...911,000 seems to be very far-fetched.....
I expect scorched earth politics between now and the runoff. Broadcasters are probably licking their chops at the $$$ associated with the ad buys being booked this morning. All for your viewing enjoyment ;-).
Entitlement is an apt description. Hopefully after stopping Dad! in 2016, stopping Son! in 2022 will break the back of the dynasty.
I shan’t be voting for the Son of Shrub. Fooled me once, shame on you. Fooled me twice, shame on me.
This one is hard. Looking at the top two democrat candidates stated positions, it appears they are just as bad if not worse. This may be a good time to vote third party ( yes I realize I am “throwing away my vote”) in Nov if P wins the runoff since it appears we are sunk no matter what.
LOL
That bull needs a larger hat!
Abbott is in no way up to the DJT
standards for state leadership.
A weak and indecisive man (yet still more
to offer than Kemp). Congratulations
to TRUMP in his choices. If the
results last night in Texas
caused d’rats
to knock their knees together today,
then I’m all for it.
GO, DONALD, GO!
Have yet to read much on Brandon’s
mumblings this morning.
We watched a portion knowing
we’d come away with nothing but
higher blood pressure and a few
laughs thanks to the speaker and
those sitting behind him.
The events this country has seen is becoming more
like the old serial “The Perils of Pauline”.
Same question. West= a very good choice.
Abbott= a safe endorsement (good winning opportunity)
West, a carpetbagger )shades of HRC in NY) Admire the
man and certainly hope he never gives up. He has a lot
to bring to the table.
