Poll: More Approve of Donald Trump’s Handling of the Coronavirus than Joe Biden’s

More voters approve of former President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus than President Joe Biden’s handling of the pandemic over two years later,a Harvard Harris poll found.

The survey asked voters to rank the approval of Biden’s handling of key issues, including “reacting to coronavirus.” As of February 2022, just 44 percent expressed approval — 26 percent down from the 70 percent who approved of his handling of that issue in May 2021. Biden garnered the same 44 percent approval on that issue in January 2022 as well, marking his lowest rating on the coronavirus throughout his presidency, according to the survey.

In comparison, Trump left office with 47 percent approving of his handling of the virus — three percent higher than Biden’s current approval rating. That is significant, as Biden largely pitched tackling the Chinese coronavirus as one of his key campaign issues.

“You hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this: Anyone who’s responsible for not taking control, in fact… saying I take no responsibility initially, anyone who’s responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America,” Biden said during one of the presidential debates in October 2020, when the U.S. death toll stood around 220,000.

That figure now stands around 947,000, yet Biden has shown no signs of stepping down. Instead, he has gone back on his word on key aspects of handling the pandemic, including attempts to force individuals to get vaccinated.

Biden ended the COVID pandemic.

He just stopped talking about it.

And it magically ended.

And mask mandates magically disappeared - to coincide with his SOTU address. How convenient.

We’re approaching a “grime milestone”, as the MSM would say when Pres. trump was in office. Now, I doubt the “milestone” will even get 30 second on the evening news.

I’m a “Trump-supporter” but the one thing I criticize him on is his ‘handling’ of the Covid pandemic. He was too hands off & too trusting of his subordinates who were clearly undermining him politically.

It was known from the start that the elderly were the most vulnerable population group. Nursing homes should have been immediately isolated and staffs should have been awarded triple-pay to live on-site... FEMA trailers if necessary. No visitors. Trump shares some of the blame for the lack of a response to address the massive death toll among the elderly. BTW, this would have been far cheaper than pumping several trillion dollars into the economy to support the mindless lockdowns.

Schools were probably always going to have been the purview of the governors, but Trump could have taken stronger public positions to keep public schools open.

Vaccines, as we are finding out, were baked into the cake. They’d been planning a massive vaccine plan since Sars-Covid-1 and MERS. It was planned & war gamed. I don’t really have any gripes about how Trump handled this, but he needs to be backing away from claiming credit as public opinion of the vaccines is flipping toward ‘against’.

Would the Govs have used the trailers? Cuomo and De Blasio screamed like the black death was upon them. They were given a 1,000 bed hospital ship which 10 people used and nobody used the Javits Center triage or the Samaritan’s Purse tent.

Trump gave guidelines to state and local governments for nursing homes including separating the Covid positive people at nursing homes, using separate staffing and separate Covid units. Cuomo and other Democrat governors knew better and said Trump wasn’t a king. They will do what they want and Trump was being mean in trying to single out the Covid positive patients in nursing homes and the Democrats would treat everyone the same. Why? Because Democrats care and are woke and believe in equality and Orange Man bad. If the nursing homes refused to take Covid positive patients the Govenors said the nursing homes would be fined and lose their licenses.

All the mandates, business shutdowns, lockdowns and school closings were by the governors and mayors, Trump didn’t do one.

The vaccine development under Op Warp Speed also included all of the therapeutics. The people who say the vaccine doesn’t work but want to take credit for early treatment and therapeutics (Rengeneron, monocolonals) saving lives, can thank Trump for that.

And I didn’t even mention Trump went into the ventilator business, got all the gowns and masks.

A fair rebuttal. I would only suggest that Trump should have played to Repiblican governors all the harder after being spurned by Cuomo, Whitmer, Wolf etc al. Trump had to show a contrast and he did not succeed in that.

I didn’t approve of either. The state does not own me, despite what it obviously believes.

I agree, neither own you, but your state constitution likely spells out what authority they have over their citizens or residences. Clearly our federal constitution spells out the limited federal powers, which do not include establishing a dress code or medical procedures.
