Vice President Kamala Harris touts the Biden administration's efforts to get low-income Americans access to a $30 per month subsidy for broadband.
.... The subsidy was made possible through the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill Congress passed last year.
In remarks at the White House, Harris noted it was an important milestone as President Joe Biden and his administration work toward closing the digital divide and ensuring every American has access to high-speed affordable broadband service.

How many years have we been hearing about this? I thought it was done at the same time obozo handed out free cell phones...kind of like the ROAD TO RECOVERY ACT that produced nothing but made some companies rich....NO ROADS THO’ - NO INFRASTRUCTURE!
BORROW the money one year, spend it recklessly, go back another year for the same cause - people forget they already loaned you that money once already!
The way it works in DC..
Yep. You can get food stamps and use it to buy lobster and steak.
The rest of us have to watch what we spend.
Disgraceful.
>>More redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the welfare state.<<
Almost. The wealth being redistributed ends up in the pockets of the service providers. This is how the Deep Ste/Democrat party buys corporations like Comcast (NBC), ATT (CNN) and more.
Programs like this make me want to write my Texas senators and tell them next time some worthless program to distribute $1400-$2000 checks to everyone comes to the floor, to stand up and scream that the Democrats are too cheap. They should demand that another 2 or 3 zeros be added to the check amount. Let us go ahead and break the government bank now. There might be enough of us left to rebuild this country and make damn sure crap like this never happens again.
Col, you are truly a cruel man....LOL
‘Americans’ have become little piggies for their Feddie massahs. They love free sh*t.
Yes, most places are already doing that anyway. Ticks me off.
It’s the Saddam Hussein strategy - make everyone dependent upon you for everything so you can control them.
My little ISP is chomping at the bit for federal grant money to run fiver optic out here to us. Then they’ll raise the price by $30/mth with the excuse that fedgov will pay for it if you’re poor.
Only in government can failure be celebrated as a great success. People sign up for free stuff. WOW. What an accomplishment.
What is so bad here, is that in Japan I was paying $40/month for insanely fast Fiber Optic (starting around 2003); but here, back in the states, it costs over $100 to get anywhere near that speed.
10 million households Have signed Up but 4 million have the same address.
10% x ..............................................
Wait a minute. You’re telling me that Lyin’ Biden claims 10Mil households are signed up for Bidenet? Is this for real or just another pipe dream he pulled out of thin air in another one of his “speeches”?
Excellent research and documentation.
Will $30.00 discount really enable poor people to buy services? Can they or WILL they pay the difference? This is all the biggest scam!
It takes more than $30 just to process all that paperwork.
My cousin worked for a cable company that was/is in many rural areas. It was run by former Charter executives, literally the founders of what used to be Cencom and eventually became Charter. They left Charter and started a *new* cable company, called Cequel - now Suddenlink. They went into local rural towns and promised all kinds of fast speed, low cost - for 15 years or more - from what my cousin told me, that just didn’t happen- people couldn’t afford the prices; costs were very high, and the company was instrumental in pushing “rural connectivity” using their lobbyists in DC. Where’s the money really going to go? Does anyone really believe these cable companies are socially conscious to the point they give one sh*t about poor people getting connected? Sheesh.
Yes, I was provoked by the deception.
I can see it now, you walk into a welfare office and they
have these cards you can put your information on and send
in post paid.
