Joe Rogan apologized for his Spotify show over the weekend, which was bad enough, but he managed to make things far worse in his Instagram statement.
Rogan’s in the spotlight because singer Neil Young — he of “Rockin’ in the Free World” fame — pulled his music from the streaming service because Rogan’s COVID-19 discussions were not deferential enough to the government. It’s that free speech guy or me, said Mr. Stick-It-to-the-Man, Anti-War, four-dead-in-oh-HI-oh to Spotify.
Spotify’s CEO couldn’t handle the heat and even though he let Young walk and sided with his 100-million-dollar man Rogan, he announced that from here on out, his company would place a scarlet letter on every “podcast episode that includes a discussion about COVID-19.” An advisory “will direct listeners to our dedicated COVID-19 Hub [to get] up-to-date information as shared by scientists, physicians, academics and public health authorities around the world.” These are, of course, some of the very people who have lied about the origins and funded the gain of function research to create the very virus that appears to have escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. They’re some of the same people who said masks were bad but then they were good, that shooting up kids with experimental shots and adults with boosters was unethical but now that’s good too, and that the “vaccinated” were bulletproof to COVID-19 but now claim they never said that. In other words, information is ever-changing so if disclaimers mean nothing, why disclaim anything?
Rogan, who runs the juggernaut podcast, gave a great recitation of why the two most controversial guests on his program, Dr. Peter McCullough, an epidemiologist and cardiologist, and Dr. Robert Malone, who holds nine patents on mRNA technology, were perfectly suitable guests for his program. He said,

I agree. I don’t have a problem with what he said. Honestly, if the left continues to act up, it will make them look really pathetic.
Three hours. And much profanity. I watched my cousin Vinny the other day here. The f word is necessary and actually, well compared to Rogan, sparing. Watched the Heat sandy b and Melissa McCarthy. Ditto. Just funny a look at characters who act like that
The kids told me I’d like him. Two minutes. No.
Rogan? There’s no need for it.
A friend sent me link to an interview. I looked to see if I was interested. Three hours? Wig MTB the f word and his guest following along with the porn metaphors.
Who has that kind of time?
He an interviewer, not a commentator tho. And he comes off more libertarian leaning conservative. He does not sound like a liberal at all.
I enjoy his interviews quite a bit.
Did you watch his full video ? If you have ever watched any of his interviews, this video is his personality. He didn’t give in to anyone. He made his point without being an a$$.
Great post.
Exactly. He didn’t say, *I’m sorry. I was wrong.
He said he was sorry they felt that way.
There’s a world of difference. He knows how to play their game.
Ridiculous. If you’ve ever watched his interviews, his video has the same temperament. To his fans, he came off as a the same sensible guy they watch. There will be no change. The only difference may be opinions coming from those who never watched him, yet had some sort of expectation about him. He’s a sensible and rational guy. Simple as that.
LOL. You think only conservatives have money to spend? I doubt that will happen. The left is in control of all major organizations in the country. This has been true for most organizations for decades. Now, they have everything. If need be, they will subsidize leftist media outlets (which they are calling for already for “local journalism”).
We’ll see. Words have meaning and contracts are chains of words occasionally broken up by punctuation. Any $100M contract should be lengthy and hyper detailed to cover foreseeable contingencies. Not sure that the way this played out was foreseeable, but 1-1.5 years ago when this contract was created, woke and cancel culture backlash was not unheard of.
I would interpret Rogan’s conciliatory remarks as a sign that he does not have a lot of protection in the contract. I have never listened to him and really have no dog in this hunt, but he risks loosing his audience if he is too apologetic/conciliatory.
Rush Limbaugh did the same thing with the Sandra Fluke incident, and he was probably much richer than Rogan is now.
“loosing“
You know that’s not a word, right? I mean it’s not an autocorrect because autocorrect does not plug in non-words. It’s unlikely a typo.
I would agree, Joe Biden was born into a blue-collar typically Democrat working class family. But he has a contrarian streak in him, perhaps he shares a pesky libertarian streak with many of us, which is the crowbar he uses to pry apart what he sees to be the hypocrisy around us. His advocacy for drugs depicts a person constitutionally at war with received authority.
So when we say that Rogan is or was a liberal, I don't think it accurately describes this man who is not rooted. He is not rooted either in leftist or conservative philosophy rather he is an eclectic, a contrarian by profession as a comedian, and possessed of a remarkably inquisitive mind for someone who is not academically trained.
Rogan is natively intelligent, even articulate and very manipulative but he also has a level of intellectual honesty which is perceptibly drawing him to the right as he explores the patent lunacy of the left. A comedian who punches holes in hypocrisy for a living must, if he has any allegiance to logic, move from left to right.
It will be interesting to see whether he develops a rooted conservative philosophy as we have seen many other liberals do.
I seem to recall that at one time Rogan made it clear he had no interest in ever interviewing Trump.
That’s a typo.
“...he does let conservatives have a voice of their position in a long conversation format...”
__________
His being willing to do this...does that not mark him out for further treatment of the kind Neil Young and Joni Mitchell doled out to him, from additional individuals who no longer see him as being on their side politically, and increasing in scale until Spotify taps out?
Rogan stands tall.
I did not hear an apology in his video. All he said was he would like to hear all sides of a story. Which will never happen and he knows it because the left can’t defend their point of view.
what make you believe he folded her?
When this was first reported I was angry. Then I listened to what he said. I didn’t hear an apology. I heard an explanation of his format and content, kinda like you used to read in TV Guide and today you might find in a Dummies book.
