As bad as the costs of this are, they are almost beside the point. This bill would take away freedom for all Californians.

We don’t have any freedom left in CA. They stole it or regulated it away already.
Now San Jose’s pimping Gun liability insurance as requirements to own firearms in city limits. Cartel Members exempt of course.

The hate-America marxists will eventually win. California is a lost state.

Even though the bill failed, this time, it will be back.
And, many many more taxpaying Californians have just resolved to leave the state.

Too bad that the bill failed. Would like to have seen it passed into law - and then to have leaned back and watch CA crash and burn after implementation. Would have served as an object lesson.
[paraphrasing M. Thatcher] "Socialism is all fun and games - until you run out of other people's money."

Considering all the criminal foreign invaders California has, “Universal health care” would be nothing more than “Free health care for the entire world courtesy of the California taxpayer”.

Big Tech and Big Corp have been pushing for state funded healthcare for decades.
Moves a huge burden off their balance sheets, and reduces overhead costs.

Does anyone know what the final vote was? I couldn’t find it in the SFGate propaganda sheet.

A ban on same-sex marriage was voted for twice by California voters (2000 - Prop 22; 2008 - Prop 8). The courts negated both votes. And while the legislature is the one who voted down universal health care for the state, why do I think this is just a temporary setback for the socialists in California?

“Universal healthcare” already exists in CA. It’s called Medi-Cal. Available to any legal resident who “can’t” afford the taxpayer subsidized ACA crap coverage.
This is a “medical care for anyone who makes into the state” act. This is a “Legal, illegal, tourist, come on in for your $350k cancer treatment/cardiac surgery/organ replacement wherever you come from on our taxpayer dime” bill.
