NJ Gym Owner Who Refused to Close During Lockdown Has Finally Been Sentenced
Townhall ^ | Jan 28, 2022 | Leah Barkoukis

Ian Smith, co-owner of New Jersey-based Atilis Gym, was sentenced Thursday after refusing to close his gym during the Garden State’s lockdown and resisting all orders from the state.

The defiant gym owner was fined $1.2 million for his noncompliance but he never backed down, going so far as to remove the gym’s doors so police couldn’t lock them.

“Thanks to all who joined in on our sentencing hearing. So many came that the server crashed. We got one year probation for the crime of taking our doors off to prevent government goons from locking us out of our gym. @theatilisgym is open and will remain open at any cost,” he said on Twitter.

...

Last year, Smith warned Gov. Phil Murphy the only way the Democrat would ever be successful in closing his gym's doors is when he's dead.

“We have been open against unconstitutional shut down orders since May,” he said in December of 2020. “Not once have we flinched, and the petty tyrant of New Jersey governor Murphy has tried everything he could possibly think of to ruin us. Over seven months later we will open our doors every single day. No government official will ever tell me that I am not able to provide for my family. I do not answer to public servants – no matter what threats or punishments they impose. I am a free man. I do not ask for permission. I do not ask for forgiveness. You work for us. The only way you’ll ever close these doors is when you close my casket.”

Ok, poor wording. I’ve been using “their” to refer to the covid virus as the governments, not the individuals as I made it sound here. The point attempted to be made, was the gym actually responsible for spreading covid? No one seems to be saying that.

If only there were more owners like this in NJ, everyone here is STILL in masks.

$1.2 million fine. How many unvaccinated illegal criminals did McMurphy relocate into NJ? How many elderly were sent back to nursing homes with COVID to spread death among the vulnerable? These petty tyrants could not care less about the business owners who employ the middle class.

When Tucker Carlson ask Murphy, two years ago, “where in the Constitution or Bill of Rights does it give you the authority to shut businesses down?” Murphy answered – “Knowing the Bill of Rights is above my pay grade”.

Always amusing when elected officials make such a statement after most swear an oath to the Constitution. I looked up the NJ oath and the Constitution is not mentioned.

52:15-2. Oath of governor

Every person who is elected governor shall, before entering upon the execution of his office, take and subscribe the following oath, to wit: "I, , elected governor of the state of New Jersey, do solemnly promise and swear that I will diligently, faithfully and to the best of my knowledge, execute the said office in conformity with the powers delegated to me; and that I will to the utmost of my skill and ability, promote the peace and prosperity and maintain the lawful rights of the said state. So help me God."

Dopey oath!

Be interesting to know how many of his regulars got their virus from using that gym.

When it was in the news last year, when stations were covering it regularly, there were ZERO!!!

The entire scamdemic has been a crime against humanity and the perpetrators should be terminated with extreme prejudice.

Everyone in the State of New Jersey involved in the deprivation of rights of Ian Smith of Atilis Gym, needs to be removed from office, surrender any state or municipal pension, be banned from every collecting a government paycheck, and then need to stand trial in Nuremberg II.

Governor Phail Murphy directed the transport of unvetted illegal aliens into the State of New Jersey at the same time he directed the minions of Pfascism to violate Ian Smith's rights. Yes, governor Phail Murphy decided illegal aliens who should have been deported with prejudice instead got more rights than a U.S. citizen.

Every filthy one of them, from the "town inspector", health department lackey, police officers, prosecutor, judge, and the governor himself, need to be charged under Nuremberg II.

The only one who actually answered an honest question without a totally inappropriate response. Some on this board should take a look in the mirror after their responses.

I was interested, too. I would have guessed very few got sick. My gym in Oklahoma closed early for only a few weeks “to flatten the curve.”

"The only way you’ll ever close these doors is when you close my casket.”"

In NJ, there's a good chance the communists will take him up on his offer...

Being 88, I can remember when virtually ALL Americans had his backbone...
Today, mostly we have is pathetic spineless jellyfish...

Mam, I believe there are 2 type of folk. Those that got the China virus and those that will. I’ve had it twice, a year apart. First time was going to my doctor for blood work, while wearing a mask. Walk upstairs and see what your mom has to say.

Who gives a damn how many regulars got sick at this gym? Life isn't safe, dude.

Your attitude perfectly explains why I moved my home and business out of that state full of simpering Karens.

P.S. -- As of 4:00 PM today I will officially be fully up and running in my new location. I'm one of thousands of people who are a big reason why that loser Phail Murphy is still your governor. We couldn't vote against him because we left that dump.

Welcome to a country where you are allowed to burn buildings, steal, assault and rape people, kill people as long as you have the banner of BLM or antifa.
A country where a capitol cop is allowed to kill a protester with no consequences whatsoever.
A place where the president commits crimes far worse than his predecessor who was impeached for no valid reason.
A place where people are thrown in prison without a trial for being at the Capitol.
A place where the Constitution no longer applies.
A place where the biggest crime is defying the authority of the Almighty State.

“If anyone DID get the virus from using that gym,”

That’s irrelevant. It wasn’t shut down because of the virus. It was shut down to show the power of the Royalty in Newark.

Oaths are an artifact of history when people sincerely believed that if they broke one, they went to hell after death.

Now they are administered by the state with a prison and fine penalty, but no such penalty attaches to an oath of office.

At bottom, an oath of office is a hollow part and pointless of a public ritual. It’s naive to think anybody who takes an oath, takes it seriously. If they do, fine, bully for them, but the public office oath is by and large a fake promise. They all tell you want they think you want to hear, or what they think keep them in high cotton. Truth may or may not enter that calculus.
