When one group gets preferred treatment because of skin color, some other group of individuals gets screwed.
It is by definition, racist.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court agreed Monday to hear a major challenge to race-based affirmative action in the nation’s college and universities, setting the stage for another long-sought win for conservatives.
The justices voted to hear a pair of appeals contending that Harvard University, the nation’s oldest private university, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the oldest public university, are violating civil rights laws by giving preferences to some minority students seeking admission while discriminating against others, including Asian Americans.
They ask the court to rule that universities, whether public or private, may “not use race as a factor in admissions.” And they rely on the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which says no person “shall be subjected to discrimination ... on the ground of race, color or national origin” in a school or university that receives federal funds.
Since 1978, however, the Supreme Court has held that colleges, universities and law schools may consider a student’s race or ethnicity as a “plus factor” in order to create more diversity in their classes. In recent decades, the court took up anti-affirmative action challenges to the admissions policies at the University of Michigan Law School and the University of Texas, but upheld them narrowly over sharp dissents from the conservatives.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. was among the dissenters, and he now has five more conservative justices on his right. And they are in position to overturn the past rulings that upheld affirmative action.

UNC is not the oldest public university. William and Mary is and Rutgers is 2nd. The only two public schools older than the US.
Affirmative action was inherently racist from the go, despite arguments otherwise.

Seems like 44 years ought to be long enough and once it’s gone it should also be long gone. “Affirmative Action”...Give me a break.
Anyone remember how long ago it was when they basically said 25 years more and it needs to return to everyone for himself. Libs will use this for racial division.

Grievance-Studies programs will need white students to keep them going.

Mike is up for a big promotion at work that would send he and Gloria to Minnesota. Archie and Edith aren’t too happy. Edith is disappointed but is willing to let them live their own lives, but Archie behaves like a child and makes all kinds of rude comments about their decision. The only stumbling block between Mike and the job is that the other candidate is a black man, and the university must hire him because they don’t want any problems. The other candidate does get the job and Mike is upset. He tells the Dean that he is fine, but upon leaving, he slams the door and breaks the glass.
The stats appear to show that blacks have received favoritism over another minority, Asians.
You don’t cure racism with more racism. You just create resentment.

If affirmative action worked I would accept it as a necessary evil but it hasn’t. Blacks and the country at large are worse off for it. Get rid of it!
This is outrageous. Since when is ignoring the Constitution ever justifiable? Answer: NEVER. You shouldn't be here....
Even if SCOTUS outlaws race-based admissions, the Left will still find a way to continue it.
The most likely path is getting rid of all merit metrics in admissions, especially standardized testing. This is already fairly prevalent, even at elite schools. It would not surprise me to even see them discount GPA. However, a high GPA from an poor school might not mean a whole lot. I predict it will all go by the essay, which the student may or may not have written. And I am sure certain AA sounding names will get one extra points. If your name is Winston Worthington III or Harold Goldstein, don’t bother applying.
Only the biggest virtue signaling a$$hole could ever justify and be for reverse discrimination.
