Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a once-loyal member of Donald Trump's court, is refusing to bend a knee to the former president and says backing him in the 2024 election 'is too much to ask' after Trump publicly attacked his character, according to a report.
Trump reportedly said the popular governor has 'no personal charisma' and a 'dull personality' as rumors swirl the ex-president is angry DeSantis hasn't declined to challenge him for the GOP presidential nomination.
DeSantis, however, has told his inner circle that Trump's 'expectation that he bend the knee is asking too much,' the New York Times reported.
The governor blasted back at Trump's criticisms, accusing the ex-president of being 'uncharacteristically out of step with the hard-line elements of his party's base'.
Sources close to the former president who have recently talked to him about the governor said Trump has grown increasingly irked by DeSantis in recent months, with Trump beginning to voice his frustrations to those in his inner circle.
The Florida governor is extremely popular in Republican circles, and is widely seen as a leader who can push policies popularized by Trump, but without the same level of drama or baggage.

Full of your self now, eh, DeSantis?
I am sure the anti-Trump boat will work for yam yeah?
Might want to think twice yo.
Seems unlikely since Ron had previously stated he wasn’t running in 2024 anyway.
Why in the world would Trump say something like that GEEZE!!
So did he actually say this?, or is the media claiming that he did based on “leaks”.
I doubt Trump said this.
If anything it was probably leaked to the press by DeSantis so he can run against Trump and look like the good guy.
That gif is amazing
I’ll vote for either, but this is kind of dumb on Trump’s part.
I will vote for Trump, but he had better knock it off with DeSantis. Truth be told, I would have a hard time choosing Trump over DeSantis if it ever came to that. As the article appropriately sums up:
The Florida governor is extremely popular in Republican circles, and is widely seen as a leader who can push policies popularized by Trump, but without the same level of drama or baggage.
More gaslighting by the NY Slimes to sow discord and division.
There are many websites populated by people who can’t speak English. FR shouldn’t be one of them.
I think this podcast from yesterday by Steve Bannon’s WarRoom co-host explains the inside baseball the best. Trump doesn’t believe DeSantis is loyal or appreciative enough, and DeSantis isn’t willing to cede to someone who hasn’t even declared yet, on something that’s 3 years away. A combo ticket of them was probably a long shot anyway, being two alpha males, but it’s a shame they can’t focus their weapons more on the enemy.

There is your answer.
So which is it? “publicly” or “reportedly”? If it was “publicly” then there should be audio. If “reportedly” then it’s just fake news.
Grammar nazi comes to mind to.
I feel like these two are putting on a theatrical performance for the Left.
fake news.........................
I love Trump to death - voted for him 4 times, enthusiastically, and will definitely vote for him twice more in ‘24 - but sometimes he has a tendency to step right into the middle of a steaming pile. I don’t particularly care about if or how he criticizes people - but to expect those people to support you after having criticized them harshly (even if they deserved it) is rather unrealistic. Trump would serve himself better to think more before he speaks.
I have no doubt that he can defeat DeSantis in the primaries, assuming that DeSantis runs. But what purpose is served by this kind of mutual grenade throwing? WTF happened to Reagan’s 11th Commandment (”Thou shalt not attack fellow Republicans”)?
