Miyares fires 30 in AG's office (Virginia)
Free Lance Star ^ | 1-15-22 | PATRICK WILSON

Attorney Gen.-elect Jason Miyares notified about 30 staff members in the office - 17 of them attorneys - that they won't have jobs in his administration.

Miyares, a Republican, will be sworn in on Saturday to replace Democratic Attorney General Mark Herring, whom Miyares defeated in the November election.

Miyares spokeswoman Victoria LaCivita said the 30 staff members were told Friday that Miyares would be moving in a different direction.

"During the campaign, it was made clear that now Attorney General-elect Miyares and Attorney General Herring have very different visions for the office," she said by email for this story. "We are restructuring the office, as every incoming AG has done in the past."

She declined to provide the breakdown of which divisions the attorneys work in, saying it was multiple divisions across the office.

While it's routine for lawyers at the top of the office to be replaced when one political party loses control, the number of lawyers fired surprised the outgoing Herring administration.

Good! Though I hate to see folks lose their jobs, it seems to me this is always a risk with these types of jobs. Dems do the same, so tit for tat. Clean house & bring in your own people that support your agenda! Just have to be sure to bring in the right peeps rather than those who do nothing but sabotage & undermine.

It was called the resistance. Everyone who uttered that term should have been removed from office immediately.

IMHO, that Trump did not induce the needed enema the first time around shows poor judgement and a lack of cojones when it comes to deeds (he will basically say anything).

Did he earn anything?
Hard to say but he is smart enough to realize the mistakes he made.

Will he get a do over?
Let’s see after the mid-terms.

ALL federal agencies should be relocated to areas over which they regulate. Agriculture to the Midwest, Energy to Texas, HUD to Chicago etc. There is NO reason why Maryland and Virginia should have an unfair number of highly paid federal workers who never visit their charges. The additional advantage would be so few highly “educated” leftists would want to live in flyover country with the rubes.

Excellent! - Career employees, both state and federal” have become very liberal and every conservative appointee will tell you, they work tirelessly to defeat the appointee’s goals. They need to be weeded out at the beginning of your tour of duty.

“...he can fire every single damned one of them...”

I hope you are correct. However, I’ve heard that government unions have language that can protect most of them. No government should allow its employee to be in a union. They are not only lined up against management, but against the tax-payer.

Why do you suppose government workers are compensated so much more than the comparable worker in the private sector???

A good start

The answer to the question- "What do you call 500 liberal lawyers at the bottom of the sea?"

Yep. All Trump had was a couple of foot soldiers like Stephen Miller, etc. They were great. But he needed a “General”. Two of them were eliminated early. So Trump was all on his own. If he gets back in the White House, he needs to find himself more Loyalists he could trust. Somebody who had the skills like Steve Bannon.

Deep state will not permit another Trump presidency.

I agree 100%. It will never happen!

He wont het the chance, unless he starts now on getting loyalty in the areas where it counts, the ballot counters in the local county/city election offices.

Any story posted here that shows Republicans winning or doing the right things brings out the Free Republic Surrender Monkey Caucus and they start screeching and complaining. It’s like day follows night.

I don’t know — here I think the federal government is less restrictive and abusive than the state would be, with all the national forest land, national parks, BLM, offshore, etc than the state would be (WA).

“the number of lawyers fired surprised the outgoing Herring administration.”

probably should have fired even more ... and next time Trump is elected, he should automatically fire each and every person who serves at the pleasure of the President, and any that want to serve again will have to re-apply ... furthermore, the CDC should be moved from Atlanta to either Nome Alaska or Deadwood, South Dakota, and the NIH should be moved to Fargo ...

It’s getting rid of the Federal agencies that I want. If the power moves closer to home, it’s easier to personally address the petty tyrants. And while it might be bad for Blue States folks, those of us in Red States can make better use of the land as well as managing it better.
