Passengers aboard a Norwegian cruise ship are stuck at sea this week after the cruise line decided to cancel the cruise mid-voyage due to COVID-19 concerns.
Aimee Focaraccio, who boarded a 10-day cruise on the Norwegian Gem from New York, told USA Today that she was notified on Thursday that the cruise would be canceled due to issues related to COVID-19, but was not provided an early return date.

I’d be so pissed off stuck in the middle of the ocean.
Not me
A 3 hour tour...
A 3 hour tour...
Ping.
LOL!!!
I’ll never do a cruise....I’m a land-lover. Solid ground all the way!
“Focaraccio detailed that after the ship made a stop in St. Maarten on Friday, it would not be making any other stops at ports or islands”
If your gonna get stranded on an island St. Maartens the one.
Yeah, you’d have to be nuts to take a cruise now.
It’s a shame because it’s a great way to see a lot of things in a short period of time.
Hey — get over it. Stuck at sea, with entertainment, food, drinks, casino, fresh air. Some of us take a cruise for just that reason.
Unfortunately the weather might go bad, and the air will be cold between the Caribbean and New York.
Now, forced inside and forced masks, is an issue with me.
And what we don’t know is the quarantine side of things either.
Passenger Burke Digly commented: I always wondered what it would be like to flush ten grand down the toilet! Now I know!
Several years ago, my wife and I decided we were going to take an Alaskan cruise in 2022 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Let’s just say we are making other plans.
Bring tackle and make it a deep sea fishing trip.

What would piss me off is that Norwegian IS HIDING FROM US ??
There is a onboard covid concern. What is the scope ??
How many ? Crew or passengers ?
I doubt anyone is dying.
I just wonder about the logistics. Does the Captain send the crew and staff back to land on lifeboats and leave the passengers alone to fend for themselves? Cancel a cruise half-way through ... just sounds weird.
I have 2 employees that were supposed to be on that cruise and the Gem is my favorite ship and I told them no way no how would I get on that ship for 10 nights. It’s a small ship with limited facilities compared to the big ships. I’m not afraid of COVID (just recovered), but not going to be stuck in a 100 sq ft state room for 10 days!
7 years sea time and a permanent Cuttermans pin. I’ll pass.
Remember to pack your seegars Al.
I know how to “make a boat go” and can steer one reasonably well. A simple mutiny and pointing the ship towards terra firma with a full bell should remedy the situation in time.
Sounds like all ports of call were canceled
