One of the nation’s biggest satellite broadcasters, DirecTV, plans to drop carriage of the fringe right-wing cable outlet One America News, several months after a Reuters report revealed that AT&T, one of DirecTV’s owners, was responsible for a large part of the media outlet’s overall revenue.
OAN is owned by Herring Networks, founded by the entrepreneur Robert Herring Sr.
“We informed Herring Networks that, following a routine internal review, we do not plan to enter into a new contract when our current agreement expires,” DirecTV said in a statement. A spokesman would not comment on a report from Bloomberg News Friday evening that said DirecTV’s current carriage contract was set to lapse in April. OAN executives could not be reached for immediate comment.

Buh bye Direct TV
Get woke, go broke!
No surprise.
DirecTV has been bleeding customers for quite some time. This will be a ripple with their current attrition rate. Of all the boneheaded moves AT&T has made over the years, and it’s numerous, purchasing DirecTV has to near the top of that list.
“fringe right-wing cable outlet”
Nope. No bias there.
Remember there was Dem talk of punishing broadcast services that carried Fox as a choice, such as Xfinity.
As if that’s actually the GOP answer to anything. It isn’t.
DirectTV $275 month. We canceled 3 years ago. Skystream box $125 one time purchase. Then a real-debrid account $3/m or $18 for 6 months we watch whatever we want when we want. Even movies in theaters. Best decision ever.
I switched from DISH to DirectTV a few years ago as they did not carry OAN. Now what?
Their contract expires in April, either OAN will renegotiate a new carrage contract or not

AT&T’s massive customer losses
DirecTV’s value rapidly declined under AT&T’s stewardship, as the company reported a $15.5 billion impairment charge in January 2021. AT&T last month said the DirecTV/TPG deal will lower AT&T’s expected revenue for the remainder of 2021 by $9 billion.Aug 3, 2021

With my Roku I can get 100s of free channels including OAN and Newsmax TV. Outside of live broadcasts I do not see how cable TV is going to survive in the next 10 years
But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. Romans 2:8
I was talking to Direct TV today about getting their service. Without OANN: no way.
Direct was pretty good until 2004, then they started cutting corners. By the time I subscribed to them after moving about five years ago, nothing worked, not “On demand, not the DVR, nothing. We asked to go down to their minimum tier. They cut off all programming and gave us only infomercial channels. When we could finally escape, we had to scream at them for two hours. Both they and Dish are complete trash.
Biden wants everyone censored because he knows we all hate him.
I wonder if OAN will also be removed from AT&T's streaming TV service (oddly called DirecTV Stream, having *ZERO* to do with their satellite service)? The same goes for their Uverse TV service (Internet), which stopped taking new customers some time last year, I believe. How long before Uverse is finally cancelled?
I stream OAN through KlowdTV for $2.50 a month. About as close to being free as possible.
