A new study finds bald eagle population is dropping due to them contracting lead poisoning
The birds eat organs left behind by hunters, which contain gunshot ammunition
Experts say other animals are feasting on the remains and are being poisoned

So, they admit they totally made it all up. There are no eagle carcasses found with lead. It is just fabricated nonsense.
This is BS. I’ve shot over 25 deer in my life and every one of them had an exit wound. I have a lot of friends that hunt deer and occasionally they will shoot one that the round doesn’t exit but can usually be found balled up underneath the skin on the opposite side of the point of entry.
The astute reader of this story will note that it said 80% of the Bald and Golden eagles found dead between 2014 and 2018 were due to rodenticide poisoning.
“Hunters don’t usually leave dead deer in the woods. Methinks the writer doesn’t know what they’re talking about.”
Writer knows more than you do
This would only fly in the urbanized UK!
that is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard
Democrat buzzards? Hadn’t really thot about the politics of the scroungers but, yeah if scummy, bottom feeding, trash sucking, strutting, squawking, back biting, garbage stealing varmits is accurate then I gotta agree.
Every few years one of these alleged experts come up with the same faked studies. A few years ago they came up with the nonsense that eagles and other predator birds ate birdshot. Have you ever seen a bird or any other animal eating birdshot ... our gun club would be renders useless on the shotgun range because of all the birds and other animals eating the bird shot.
“Hunters don’t usually leave dead deer in the woods. Methinks the writer doesn’t know what they’re talking about.”
Obviously you didn’t read the article.
Who would have guessed? 🐂💩
My inherited 12 gauge has taken over 50 deer with no exit wounds.
How many eagles are chopped up in those massive windmills?
This is such BS that it’s stupid. A deer shot with a lead bullet would be dead so no blood would circulate and the bullet wouldn’t spread lead in the deers system
The “growth” dropped 6%? That presumes we’d know how fast the population would grow without hunters. And how exactly do they know that?
Wow, not the Bee
That part about not seeing an exit wound sounds like someones been reading page 9 in the poacher’s manual. I think it says something about using 22LR and maybe a suppressor. A friend had a copy?
YEAH? Good luck with that bullshit to.
I’ve been a dredge/placer miner for the last 40 years (until the environazis outlawed dredge mining); one thing I can tell you for sure, any lead shot dropped into a river, stream, creek, pond, or lake is going to sink into the mud/sand so fast that the ducks, geese, and swans will need at least a 5 horsepower 2 inch dredge to get at it.
Last time I checked waterfowl didn’t pack dredges on their migration flights!
The wind farms are killing them. They are permitted the killing of raptors.
There are a lot of deer that are wounded and run off and die later. But I doubt the veracity of the story.
I don’t know about other states, but Tennessee prohibits deer hunting with buckshot.
“Organs left behind by hunters? I would think that most hunters butcher their game when they get it home.”
Depends on the hunter and on the game taken. For large game, most hunters generally field dress the kill on site, and leave the gut pile for scavengers (mostly coyotes). If the game is large enough, they may quarter it on site. It also lightens the load, making it easier to remove the kill from the field (or woods, etc.).
