Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense & Peppermints (1967)

I'll bet most people don't know that the guy who wrote and played guitar on that song, Ed King, also wrote and played guitar on "Sweet Home Alabama."

Despite their name, this group didn't exactly bust any charts, but they scored in some markets, particularly in the Midwest. They sound a lot like another group that was very popular at the time.

In looking for the David Essex version, I also found that this song was covered in 1989 by Michael Damian and also became a hit. This this song was a one hit wonder for two different people.

Rock On -- David Essex (1973)

Rock On -- Michael Damian (1989)

This song was actually recorded by the Wrecking Crew, a studio band based in Los Angeles that backed dozens of singers and groups but never released anything under that name. Glen Campbell is one of the guitarists and maybe one of the singers.

My World Fell Down--Sagittarius (1967)
