Supreme Court set to issue opinions This Morning on Vaccine Mandates (live thread) [update SCOTUS blocks business mandate at reply 115]

ASHINGTON (TND) — The U.S. Supreme Court is set to begin issuing opinions Thursday morning.

It’s expected that among them will be a ruling on the vaccine mandate for large employers and healthcare workers.

In a special session this past Friday to hear the case, Chief Justice John Roberts remarked that the federal government has never imposed a mandate like this on private companies.

The rest of the court's conservative majority also appeared to be leaning towards opposing it.

However, they seemed to be more understanding of the requirement for healthcare workers, saying that the government can impose conditions when there's government funding involved.

Court watchers now mostly expecting a split decision.

The opinions are expected to start coming down at 10 a.m. Thursday.

That' how this decision will go, it's the easy way to cop out of their responsibility.

Yup.

Maybe the opinion will give us a clue on whether Deep State will cut bait and settle for a four year loot-and-run on the public treasury rather than try to stick around for the long haul...

Here’s hoping.

Yes, I forgot that. But it still is silly.

Looking at the real possibility that the jab mandate will die a quick death but the testing requirement stays.
That sets up a conflict of conscience for thousands.

Interesting side note: My employer has a COVID update at 1130 today.

I can see John Roberts declaring the “vaccine” a TAX that can’t be avoided

Thomas, Alito and Gorsuch are no mandate. Not sure about Kavanaugh and Barrett

Next week, my company is requiring testing for any unvaxxed going into the office. Fortunately, I can work from home.

That being said, I’m cleaning out my office this weekend of all my personal items...

"A split decision was in the wind during the testimonies, if you were able to listen."

That is the lean. Yes on contractors and CMS. No on OHSA. Yet they will uphold all mandates in the name of equity, 6-3.

“That being said, I’m cleaning out my office this weekend of all my personal items...”

I quit bringing personal stuff to the office except for a plain coffee mug and some snacks for my desk drawer. No pictures, funny sayings, or any of that. I’m there to do a job.

Besides it makes walking out the door that much easier when the time comes. And the time always comes.

They’re not allowed to ask my vaccination status in my state, so I’m not going to tell them.

Not sure about Kavanaugh and Barrett

If they vote "yes", it could explain why Trump has been so dead-set on propping up the failing vax. Eventually, all the blame for this is going to fall on him, and he knows it.

My personal stuff includes engineering books and papers that I’ve accumulated over 30+ years, and other items related to work but owned by me.

They will split the baby, strike down the employer mandate but uphold the healthcare worker mandate.

NONE of it is legal, but this court does not care about legal.

The problem is you have 3 legal scholars on the Court, 3 insane political lunatics and 3 squish Bush type Rinos who think “consensus” is required. Agreeing with tech insane in the name of “consensus” is agreeing to be marginally less insane. It pure idiocy but is standard issues idiot dogma of the Bush league Republicans.

2 conservatives, 4 flip floppers and 3 communists does not make a conservative court.

Most of the Justices (yes, including Roberts) were pretty tough on Administration lawyers trying to defend the mandates. Big issue is whether or not the Fed. Gov’t can dip down to the local level to force madates on private businesses through what are basically executive orders with no action from Congress.

There seems to be a good chance the Court rules against the mandates in general. They may uphold Federal power over Federal employees but the mandates on businesses, which are crucial to what Biden is pushing for, will probably fall.

It will be a victory for conservatives and the American people IF the Court quashes mandates for private businesses (although the usual Nattering Nabobs of Negativism will show up and try to spin it as a victory for the Deep State).
