Sen. Ted Cruz: January 6 Protests on Capitol Hill a ‘Violent Terrorist Attack’
Breitbart ^ | 6 Jan | CHARLIE SPIERING

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) claimed Wednesday the January 6 protest of the 2020 election on Capitol Hill last year was a “violent terrorist attack.”

“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week. And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol,” Cruz said.

The Texas senator discussed the protests in an exchange with Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger during a Senate Rules Committee oversight hearing.

Cruz has defined the violent protests on Capitol Hill as terrorism before.

Just days after the 2021 protests, Cruz said, “We saw a terrorist attack on the United States Capitol. It was despicable. It was an assault on the citadel of democracy.”

Back in 2016, Cruz was my choice to get the nomination.

He was touted as a "constitutional scholar". Did his performance in Chicago bother you at all?

Don't see what's controversial. Trump himself called it a “heinous attack” that left him “outraged by the violence lawlessness and mayhem.”

Back in 2016, Cruz was my choice to get the nomination. I was pissed when Trump got the nod. Right up until the night before election day, I was not going to vote at all for the first time since I was able to vote in a presidential election. My wife and I both went and voted for Trump simply because we could not take a chance on Her Thighness becoming POTUS. When Trump did win, I decided to pay very close attention to what he said as well as what he did. By the end of 2017, I had become a die hard supporter and fan. I remain so, to this day.

I voted for Cruz in the 2016 Texas Primary as well. But I was already leaning toward Trump. At first I thought Trump had no chance. But as the debates continued, polls of voters kept saying "Trump won". I finally figured that even though I didn't think Trump had won those debates, he really had if the voters thought he had. He appealed to people with plain-spokenness. He had handy slogans like "MAGA" and "Build the Wall". He cut to the chase while Cruz came off as supercilious.

By the time of the Convention, I was 100% behind Trump. I was screaming at the TV when Cruz pulled his "vote your conscience" stunt. I swore I'd never vote for him again. Then, Beto happened and a contrite Cruz was pulled across the finish line by Trump in 2018 and I voted for him again.

I can't see voting for him after this. He has revealed himself as a poseur who belongs in the Liz Cheney wing of the GOP.

Your journey was exactly the same as mine on Cruz and Trump. I voted for Cruz in the primary and Trump in the general election. Cruz has played too many games and I no longer view him as a viable conservative. I, too, had huge misgivings about Trump when I voted for him, but Hitlery was NOT an option.

I came to believe that Trump was the best President of my lifetime for regular working folks, even better than Reagan. While I get mildly irked sometimes with his antics, his track record is nothing less than stellar, even with both sides of the aisle gunning for him the whole time.

Well said !
Your story pretty much reflects my Cruz flirtation.
I dropped my support for him a little earlier than you.
His primary campaign antics turned me off and made me question his maturity and judgement. Those immaturity & judgement problems seem to be resurfacing again
Agree 100%

He’s already claimed that, as the “runner up” in 2016, it’s his turn in ‘24.

Ted comes across as a pompous blowhard. There is no way he can generate enough love to carry him through a presidential election.

The event is embarrassing to our side.

So you want those accused to be imprisoned illegally forever to avoid embarrassment?

It is scary how Washington can force grown men to say things they know is wrong - or should know.

With all due respect, IMHO he did not appear “forced” to say anything.

It sure bothered me!

As I have stated here more than once, I was at the Chicago rally—very scary stuff...car surrounded by Antifa types~50+ Yelling/screaming etc. and I was not wearing Trump gear. Thank goodness “Chicago’s Finest” arrived on the scene behind the parking garage to rescue the surrounded vehicles.

Then to arrive home and see Cruz on 10:00 news blaming Trump for the thuggish behavior of the hired Antifa activists was outrageous...

And I will never forget how he delivered teddy bears and soccer balls to illegals crossing the border with Beck.

Cruz in? I’m sitting it out.

Um, I thought he was a skilled attorney. Normally one should not prejudice an ongoing case by per-judging defendants as guilty or as terrorists. Something has gone wrong with Ted.

Fast forward Ted on the news programs so you don’t have to listen to his treachery.

Ted Cruz now on LIVE on Tucker. Walking back his Terror comments, saying he didn’t mean all protestors or Trump voters. Saying he meant the violent few.

Personally he dropped off my radar for the Nominations coming up. I didn’t like the fork-tongued politician types.
