In the year since the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a handful of Democrats, constitutional scholars and pro-democracy advocates have been quietly exploring how a post-Civil War amendment to the Constitution might be used to disqualify former President Trump from holding office again.
Calls for Congress to take steps to strip Trump of his eligibility, which reached a crescendo in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot, have since decreased. But those who remain engaged on the issue say discussions about applying Section 3 of the 14th Amendment have been ongoing.
“If anything, the idea has waxed and waned,” said Laurence Tribe, a constitutional expert at Harvard Law School. “I hear it being raised with considerable frequency these days both by media commentators and by members of Congress and their staffs, some of whom have sought my advice on how to implement Section 3.”
An analysis by The Hill found that around a dozen Democratic lawmakers have spoken either publicly or privately over the last year about how Section 3 of the 14th Amendment might apply to those who engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6.
Among those whose offices have spoken recently with Tribe are Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who sits on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee; Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), who chairs the powerful House Judiciary Committee; and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).
“I continue to explore all legal paths to ensure that the people who tried to subvert our democracy are not in charge of it,” Wasserman Schultz told The Hill.

The Democrat Party has ‘come out of the closet’ and is now openly communistic.
This is political stupidity, and unconstitutional, in my opinion.
They have zero evidence of anything about Trump, except that he didn’t go out and tell people to stop doing something he didn’t tell them to do. In fact, if anything, the information this week that Trump overruled Nancy Pelosi and sent the FBI combat team to protect the Congress demonstrates the obvious....he did his job.

They couldn’t prevent him from getting the nomination.
They couldn’t prevent him from getting elected.
They couldn’t prevent him from enacting his America First policies.
They couldn’t remove him through the 25th Amendment.
They impeached him but couldn’t remove him from office.
They couldn’t prevent the people from voting for him again in staggering numbers.
They COULD use election shenanigans to prevent him from continuing to hold the Executive Power for another four years.
They impeached him again but couldn’t disqualify him from serving in office in the future.
This is just their latest ploy to keep ONE PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL from again holding the Executive Power.
Because if he gets it again, they’re through!

Fundamentally, what the Democrats are trying to do is destroy Donald Trump to prevent him from revealing the truth about them, bringing their evil to light, and halting their gravy train.
When Trump said, "The party's over; I'm going to clean up Washington," the corrupt, parasitic politicians took that as a declaration of war on them and their privileges. They have tried to stop him--and the revelation of truth--ever since. This is merely their latest attempt.
The ruthlessness with which they have responded is a measure of the depth of their corruption.

I’m as big a Trump fan as you’ll find but I’m not sure him running in 2024 is the best idea. Just because of crap like this that will make him a perpetual target, the devil incarnate that they will block, resist, obfuscate, and obstruct. Better maybe to have DeSantis on the top of the ticket and a solid #2 as VP and let Trump be Trump, promotor, spokesman, keeper of the MAGA vision, and chief communicator.

Even though I am a layman with respect to law, I am pretty sure the Constutution flatly forbids bills of attainder in the sense that includes bills of pains and penalties. Besides the specific narrow power of impeachment, the legislative branch has no Constututional power to punish an individual. They could, of course, pass a law that applies to everyone, but they can’t make violations of that law retroactive .
So let's just roll over and let them win, right?
They are playing with fire! And it is not only PDJT but according to Jonathan Turley they looking at banning some 120 Republicans (in Congress and the Senate) from ever holding office again.
