'People are going to die': Furious drivers snowed-in on Virginia's I-95 for more than 20 HOURS demand Gov. Northam speed up rescue efforts as they run out of gas and water - and call DoorDash for food! [Tim Kaine stuck}

Furious drivers stranded on I-95 in Virginia for more than 20 hours without gas, food and water are demanding that Governor Ralph Northam speed up rescue efforts as they resort to calling DoorDash in a dire effort to get food.

'We have to find a way to get national guard here. Diabetics and babies down here. People are going die here,' a friend told NBC's Jim Scarborough, who tweeted the quote in a plea to get people rescued faster as the 50-mile stretch of highway south of the nation’s capital was still closed Tuesday morning after six tractor-trailers jackknifed the day before.

Jim DeFede, who has been stuck on the interstate just south of Quantico for the past 24 hours, called I-95 'a complete parking lot' and was growing angry as his woes weren't answered and emergency personnel were not coming to his rescue.

'I don't know who's in charge but somebody better do something because there are cars and families just trapped here this entire time and nobody seems to be coming.

'I haven't seen a state trooper in at least 12 hours. I haven't seen a tow truck in at least 14 hours,' DeFede said in a video posted to Twitter.

Meanwhile, it appeared as though Northam was hoping the sun would help melt the snow and clear traffic. 'Sunlight is expected to help @VaDOT clear the road,' he said on Twitter.

But DeFede said that as of this morning, the road was still covered in ice.(snip)

Virginia State Senator Tim Kaine (snip) revealed that he is one of the people stuck in the snowy pile-up in a tweet early Tuesday that read: 'I started my normal 2 hour drive to DC at 1pm yesterday. 19 hours later, I’m still not near the Capitol.'

There was warning for this storm. It was obvious it would hit the East. The Governor probably screwed up.

So did the people who went out in it.

Most Americans could fast for 30+ days straight with nothing but health benefits. You don’t need to stuff fast food down your fizzog every minute of the day.

I was stuck on Snoqualmie Pass (I-90 Washington State) last year for 6 hours. Only had 3 potential problems:

1) had to pick the right time to get out and take a leak so the traffic wouldn’t creep forward.
2) I left without filling up with fuel because the pass report was fine, and I knew I could get to the gas station in Cle Elum with a quarter tank to spare.
3) Cell phone battery was draining from streaming videos on my phone.

Don’t expect any sympathy from me, DC retards.

Had any of them been paying attention to the weather forecasts they would known for at least the last 2 days that there was a large winter storm coming with the potential for large amounts of snow and ice. The prudent thing to have done was stay off the roads for a day or so and let the DOT plows deal with it. But noooo, gotta jump in the car and get to work or wherever. Dressed in your tennis shoes and short sleeve shirt no doubt.

I’m a Doordash driver near that area. I’d never make a delivery like that

As late as Sunday morning, we were being told 1 - 2”. Predictions didn’t get dire until late. It started furiously overnight, I guess around 4 am. It was mostly done by noon. Added a little up until 3 pm or 4 pm. In Annapolis, we got 10”, the bulk between 4 am and noon.

The level of stupidity of some (read “many”) people. Ordering food via Door Dash in an area where traffic can’t move. Ugh.

Snowmobiles? Not common in suburban VA (I presume), but I’m sure some people have them . . .

One cannot expect the moronic, insane left to listen to just a weather report. IF all it is insane leftists out there, maybe they should be left to deal with their moronic decision-making on their own like the rest of society is forced to do.

How long can a Tesla run its heat if the car is not moving?

The answer is about 72 hours (3 days). Of course you may get different numbers depending upon whether you have resistive heating or a heat pump in your Tesla and the ambient temperature. See my answer below

The day before we moved one year in early,2000’s we got 3 feet of snow. Took 2 days just shovel out both places so,that we coild, could, our stuff. The deck had almost 5,feet,of snow because of drifting snow off the roof. It was brutal. Thr snow was packed hard from the winds

We are pretty, lucky though- I’ve seen photos of North Dakota where snow was up,to,the bottom of the power ...lines. you, could just barely, the wires- that is some serious drifting snow lol

I wonder if those stuck in the snowstorm have reconsidered their stance on electric vehicles?

Poor babies. I remember a few years ago when northerners shamed us southerners for being stranded overnight due to ice on the road. Y’all can’t drive in the snow??? Tsk, tsk.

“When danger is minutes away FEMA is days (or weeks) away. Lol. Has anyone heard of a 72 hour kit? You put them in your car in winter.”

Just because they call me paranoid doesn’t mean it won’t ever turn to dookey at some point.

Ask your friends and neighbors if they have a battery powered radio in their home. You know, it’s like TV without pictures.

I have to chuckle when I read the sentiment that someone should have done something to keep their butt out of trouble.

“Being backcountry. We just learned to deal, with it”

Our road to our farm is 3/4 mile long and private so we do our own snow removal.
On heavy snows I take the tractor out 1-3 times per night to keep up with it.

We have been snowed in for 4-6 days several times until our friend with a Cat front end loader digs us out as the drifts can be 5-6 feet high in the low parts.

The joy of living in rural rural appalachia.

We have already come to the conclusion if either of us have a heart or stroke we are dead meat.
