What are they doing?
Providing relatively crime free environments.
They provide police departments that actually enforce the law.
They protect their citizens from illegal mandates.
They allow you to make a living.
They generally have lower COVID rates but don’t have the onerous lockdowns.
They educate the students.
They don’t indoctrinate their students.
They allow citizens to arm & protect themselves.
Their citizens tend to be friendlier and more neighborly.
Hmmm...
Not one post in response to info on Pence?
What are those states doing for them?
Staying the phoook out of the way.
Hmm, the New York black-out of 1977 is only a little blip on that population growth chart. I expected more.
The fifties were sure a happy decade. My birth year takes the cake. Thanks Mom & Dad.
Looks like NY & CA have the blues, but Idaho is still a happy place!
Yes. You folks understand completely.
I am destined to live out my life in a blue state, the bluest.
I understand completely as well.
I live in a state where the government thinks everyone wants it to do as much as possible for the citizenry, and truthfully, many citizens want that. And many of them are wholly willing to accept the strings attached to that expectation. Everything seems regulated and monitored. EVERYTHING. Down to a granular degree. And sadly, that is what some people want.
Not me. But I will live here as long as my wife does.
I would love to live in a place where the government is involved only if I go looking for it, and as little as possible otherwise.
And I would like to live amongst like-minded people with values closer to my own, instead values that are alien to me.
Well. One never knows where life will take us.
Lived in small town Indiana all my life. Can go to any bar, restaurant or stores within having to “show my papers” or wear or stupid, worthless f’n face diaper. The cops in my town of 11,000 folks still arrest shoplifters and druggies regularly and if we had any car jackers that managed to not get the asses shot be the owner, the cops would arrest them too. And the county prosecuting attorney would bring them up on charges. AND they wouldn’t get out on bail. And as an aside, Indiana has a 5.1 BILLION dollar budget SURPLUS. Yeah, we got cold winters and hot and humid summers but so does Illinois. The difference is Indiana has competent government.
bkmk
I hope it’s nothing. States should leave people alone as much as possible.
Only a leftist would ask “what is the state doing for them?”
#StuckOnStupid
Which is what most of them wanted. The Federalist sounds like they are hawking for more red states to have more government like the blue states. As long as people have good jobs, good schools, and safety, they want to be left alone.
Most of the South is still rural. Tennessee has no income tax and low property taxes and housing away from the population centers.
Well, in Texas, we are becoming places of excellence. We are aggressively attracting semiconductor plants, Tesla, SpaceX, and countless HQs of fairly based companies (and some that need some Texas charm...). I am optimistic that we are attracting more people that don’t want to turn Texas blue. We are getting many who are fed up with the leftists.
And when did all of the states become rectangular?
Holcomb’s cave-in to religious liberty affronts does not bode well for Indiana. We do not need or want globalist chamber of commerce pushovers in the governor’s office.
The article is badly titled. Sometimes “doing something” for a constituency means leaving them alone, lessening taxes and regulation, keeping unelected bureaucrats in their place, etc.
I dunno. Pence is one of the most boring people on the planet. Maybe they fell asleep while typing?
“The Federalist sounds like they are hawking for more red states to have more government like the blue states. As long as people have good jobs, good schools, and safety, they want to be left alone.”
I didn’t read it that way. I think they were getting to the issue of advocacy. Are your elected representatives actually advocating for conservative values and policies? Or are they doing what the gop normally does and allows the left to set the agenda without a fight and rollis over as soon as possible?
A government that actually operates competently and then leaves it’s people alone is a lot harder in practice than being a busybody. Interference and busybodies are the norm when it comes to governance.
A better question is, “What are those states NOT doing TO them?”
They are not being welcomed and so far what they have done is raise appraisal values and increase our taxes.
Welcomed? Not in the least
Hopefully,
