My New Year's resolution: I'm quitting YouTube
Washington Times ^ | January 03, 2022 | by Sen. Rand Paul

Posted on 01/03/2022 12:02:07 PM PST by conservative98

Every year, people resolve to do things that are better for their health — quitting alcohol, processed food, toxic relationships. I have come to the realization that my relationship with YouTube is dysfunctional.

Sure, I can get millions of views. But why should I allow anonymous “fact-checkers” to censor my fully sourced, fact-based content? They don’t want to challenge or debate me with opposing views, they just want my silence.

Everyone complains about Big Tech. The Left says Big Tech doesn’t censor enough. The right complains that Big Tech censors too much already.

Many in Congress, on the Left and the Right, want to break up or regulate Big Tech, but few of these loud voices have actually stepped up and quit using Big Tech.

So today, I announce that I will begin an exodus from Big Tech. I will no longer post videos on YouTube unless it is to criticize them or announce that viewers can see my content on rumble.com.

Why begin with YouTube? Because they’re the worst censors.

I dunno, twatter does a pretty good job.

My 2 DILs, an adult grand daughter and I will still use UTube to make household repairs or to repair whatever:

We save $100’s by not calling a repair person. We let each other know when we have a success.

Now another female U Tuber user is joining our small group. She is like a sister to my wife and I. She is married to an engineer but like many engineers, he is totally worthless and lazy when it comes to doing things around their home. So she, 2 adult grandsons and one incredible grand daughter with Utube and collective brain power can do about anything to repair or correct a home problem.

They may be even more conservative than I am.

Really Rand, get your own website, that’s the way it should be. If your fans want to download your content and put it on Youtube or anywhere else, let them.

Heads up tip... Been on top of this for awhile now as a developer. Rumble is the platform to support. Contact everyone you follow on Youtube and tell them you are done and they need to move to Rumble.

There is no way they can lose if they also post their stuff over at Rumble. It is good business to sell your wares at two market places. Be foolish not to.

It would be interesting to quantify how much political content there is on YT...I’m guessing its a pretty small percentage.

As John McClane famously said:

“WELCOME TO THE PARTY PAuL”

I quit contributing to my youtube channel (mostly firearms stuff) a few years ago. Was finally able to delete it completely a year or so ago.

Don’t even go there for ‘How To’ videos anymore.

I’ve looked a Rumble but don’t really understand it. Will I be tying Rumble to my Youtube video’s or do I have to upload it separately to Youtube?

With my posts I welcome criticism because I can’t always be correct. The YouTuber should at the least not get upset over wacky criticisms. Most of those who appreciate his posts won’t ever reply

“My 2 DILs, an adult grand daughter and I will still use UTube to make household repairs or to repair whatever:”

Great DIY videos. Also used them on several occasions.

I have a suggestion for YouTube, Twatter, FacePalm and the rest of the loony leftists tech companies. Break out politics into its own forum. Now encourage free speech there. See how long it is before you get any sponsors.

I respect Sen. Paul for taking this stand. That said, my recommendation is to keep a presence on YouTube, if for no other reason than to reach their audience as well as you can. Operating behind enemy lines is a good thing.

Of course, no one should be putting all of their social media eggs in Gargle, F-Book, or Twaddle's baskets. Diversify your social media presence so that losing any one of them doesn't do much harm.

This is something we can rally around. Let’s all stop watching utube as well.

I agree. Rumble’s GUI just isn’t very user friendly, and that’s the main reason why I canceled my subscription with them. If they can ever make it look more like YouTube, Bitchute or Odysee then I’ll check it out again.

Pretty sure you would have to upload them all again to Rumble. But... They might have an option to upload in bulk. But even if you can upload the files in bulk each will probably need its own description and page to be set.

I think the extra effort is well worth it. Tell you what. I just decided a couple days ago to get an account there myself. So I will go do the homework and testing if you would like me to update you by PM with what I find out?

I will start a list of those who would like to find out what I run into there... :)
