Florida continued its record-shattering week for COVID-19 infections, reporting nearly 76,000 new daily cases on Friday as testing and hospitalizations in the state also continued to increase.
The 75,962 new cases reported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention once again set a daily record for Florida and brought the state's total to 4,165,962 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.
Thanks mostly to the fast-spreading omicron variant and an increase in testing, Florida has set records all week for daily cases, with 58,013 reported Thursday, 52,995 reported Wednesday, 33,567 on Tuesday and 29,129 on Monday.
Covid hospitalizations in the state increased by 484 on Friday, reaching 4,485, according to the Florida Hospital Association. That total is nowhere near the peak of more than 17,100 hospitalizations during the summer delta wave.
Hospitalizations in the state have increased over 144% in the past week, though more than 25% of adult ICU beds remain available.

Do the vac booster have a correlation for Bell Palsy?
And today in LA County they reported 27,000+ cases..it spreads fast but kills much much less. Both my nephews had it(Ages 16 months and 6 yrs old) and their father, all got it in a span of 2 days..high fever, runny nose, but thankfully took about 3 days and its over now they have natural immunity my 6 yr old nephew was so happy he said “Now I dont need the stupid shot”
New York has more than tripled its previous record for cases per day- no story on that.
CDC said the test for the China Virus they are discontinuing CANNOT differentiate between influenza and the Virus. They knew this from the beginning. So how many positive tests and how many deaths were the Flu and not the China Virus? Inquiring minds would like to know.
They probably should have said “nowhere near the peak of more than 17,100 hospitalizations during the MUCH SMALLER summer delta wave”.
“Asymptomatic” = “False Positive”
Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. What seems to really matter are rates per 100,000, hospitalizations, ICU patients, and death. In my neck of the woods, rate is up around double since middle of this month, but all other stats are headed just as sharply the other direction. Stats can be sliced, diced, and presented to fit any narrative. I’m neither a physician nor a statistician, but looking at the raw numbers, more people seem to be getting the bug (or are actively testing for it, which seems likely), while the severity of the illness has dropped significantly. Many people who really know this stuff seem to think this is good news.
And yet Florida has the lowest death rate in the country. Quick and convenient test, following immediately by treatment, works wonders. It seems to work even better than shutting down schools, or mandatory vaccination for children. Just imagine that!
Personally, I think that big omicron party is a good idea. :-)
im sure that if any year you counted people with a runny nose, you’d get all kinds of “cases”....
Bulls***. The swabs are more than likely manufactured in China (or comparable US liberal enclave) pre-designed to test positive.
How many deaths?
There is panic-testing in some areas, especially Miami area. Asymptotic people are running to get tested, many because of family gatherings or cruise/air travel. So people get positives, but hospitals are not being filled up. Media Covid fear porn.
LOL.
Cases, cases, cases, and more cases.
Testing, testing, testing, and more testing.
Hysteria! Fear! We’re all gonna die! Get your affairs in order!
Yawn.
Trying to hit deSantis again.
Don’t worry FL. Everyone is having this surge and our mid-Atlantic states are the worst (despite all our liberalism).
I hope you’re right.
But, the commies amongst us have loved this opportunity, and won’t relinquish the power easily.
At this rate, Floriduh should have herd immunity by Monday afternoon.
Rich New York white liberals snowbirds and those fleeing from Marxism and crime. Bringing every bad thing bad with them.
