[Most hours of the day—or night—they make customers do Self Checkout, or they have ONE human checker on duty who handles both the scanning and bagging]
Oh, just like Wal-Mart.
Don’t like self-checkout? Get ready, more of it is coming to your local Wal-Mart. They intend to install MORE self-checkout machines and have already been experimenting with a store that’s only self-checkout. And that was some time ago.
Now, if I could only get past 1-800-WalMart to their corporate office’s phone number (local store is not resolving an issue).
Self checkout is a boon when the list is not long.
Self checkout is quick and easy. I use it every where it is available as a pure convenience that is uncluttered by self-righteous indignation
And don’t expect to see the first round draft choices working the registers, either.
At Sam's Club (same owners as Walmart) they have a great phone app for self checkout. As you wander the store, you scan your items as you fill your cart and pay for the purchase as well. The only checkout line is for someone to look at a QR code on your phone and count your items. This has made Sam's a great place to stop if I want a few items in a hurry.
Before that app, I was on the verge of canceling my Sam's membership. The lines are unreal. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago:
This is the line you have to get in before you are in the actual checkout line (self or otherwise). If you look closely you will see that it goes all the way to the back of the store. It makes it almost impossible to even shop on that aisle because so many people are in line.
**Get ready, more of it is coming to your local Wal-Mart.**
WARNING TO SELF-SCANNERS at WALMART.
If you accidentally scan something TWICE, you will have to pay for it twice, then go to the Customer Service desk to get a refund.
This is a real hassle if the item was a high dollar item and you don’t have that much in your bank account.
Is this for the Super Walmarts or the Walmart Markets which are just grocery stores?
LOTS of elderly retirees where I live.
IF Wal Mart does change to entirely self-checkout-—I will FILL a cart & walk out & then take my shopping $$$ elsewhere.
I will repeat as necessary.
I like self checkout. I end up with fewer bags and I can buy all of the embarrassing stuff I want from the pharmacy without having to show them to the checker.
