Senate Blocks Amendment to Defund Biden Vaccine Mandate

The Senate on Thursday blocked an amendment to a stop-gap funding bill that would defund President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate.

The Senate voted 48-50, just a few votes short of the 51-vote majority necessary to pass the Marshall-Lee amendment to H.R. 6119, the continuing resolution (CR). The Marshall-Lee proposal would have defunded Biden’s vaccine mandate. The CR would fund the government through February 18.

Give these guys a break. Tennessee and South Dakota are tough places for conservatives to win. Sarcasm.

RE: “They getting a check or something?”

Is that a rhetorical question?
I am pretty damn sure that at least 10-15% of the costs of the ‘vaccines’ is earmarked for elected officials and bureaucrats.
But Hell, you are from Chicago, you would know that.

It’s all for show. The Repukes have 0 wins in a year but when they are in the majority the Rats win quite regularly. I, to be honest, don’t really care who holds the Senate. Doesn’t make much difference.

What is left unsaid, is that there was an agreement to get the
whole bill passed, that hinged on the vaccine mandate going
down in ashes. (actually, just a vote on it... see below)

So the bill passes and the vaccine mandate is alive and well.

Look, this is the way I understand it. I could be wrong.
(I’ll look it up and provide info below.)

If I’m right, Mitch sure snookered them! /s

Here’s what I read earlier, and I didn’t pick up on the finer
points, so my comments above are not accurate, and Mitch
didn’t deserve a dig, as far as I can tell.

Under the deal, the Senate will first vote Thursday night on
an amendment from conservatives to defund President Biden’s
vaccine mandate for larger employers, which is expected to
fall short.

Democrats agreed to allow the amendment vote at a simple-
majority threshold. That means if every Republican and one
Democrat voted for the amendment it would be added to the
funding bill.

Yep, they should have been there to vote.

Although, it makes no difference. It fails at a 50-50 vote as Harris almost certainly would not have shown up to cast an "Aye" vote for it.

Every single Democrat voted no - how would the Republicans have overcome this vote?

I, to be honest, don’t really care who holds the Senate. Doesn’t make much difference.

You haven't been paying much attention if you really believe that. It certainly doesn't mean everything is good or even ideal, but "doesn't make much difference" is obviously absurd.

It’s a show vote > they should have used the leverage over the funding
