Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) faces a statewide hospital crowding crisis as roughly 85 percent of both Michigan’s inpatient and intensive care unit (ICU) hospital beds were occupied at the time of the state’s latest PPE and Bed Tracking data release.
Of the states 22,745 inpatient hospital beds, 19,233 were occupied, accounting for 84.5 percent of Michigan’s total inpatient beds. The data, released on November 24, shows just 3,512 inpatient hospital beds were available statewide. Moreover, 2,651 of Michigan’s 3,114 ICU beds were occupied, accounting for 85.1 percent of intensive care beds statewide.

7 million people in the state, and only 20,000 hospital beds. What could we have done without the CDC?
Exactly. So stupid. Promedica is adding to the problem this week.
Maybe the FBI should fake another kidnapping to get people to feel bad for her.
Yep people get sick

She’s just itching to lock things down. Her socialist tyrant senses are tingling.
Can they get McDonalds workers to do a second shift as nurses and doctors?
1 bed for every 350 people (probably more like 315 but I’m not sure how precise the 7 million figure is). That sounds decent enough to me. 85% capacity, with only two at 100% doesn’t sound super bad to me.
How long are voters going to support Governors like Halfwhitmer, de Blowsthehole and Gavin Nobrain?
No Mickey D workers but plenty of butchers, bakers and candle stick makers.
85% of ICU beds are almost ALwAYS occupied. Hospitals were not built for pandemic level occupancy. These politicians are idiots.
Once again, hospitals for dummies. The business model for hospitals is for outpatient services. There are very few beds for inpatient services at all. A few bad traffic accidents puts a hospital into a capacity issue.
If we would have been building roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals here instead of in countries that hate us.
If they can imagine that they are gender #27 then they should be able to imagine they are a doctor.
Is this due to weakened immune systems caused by vaccinations?
The larger question is are the actual beds full, or are the number of a oak le beds reduced because of staff?
The hospital where I work has a “full icu” but when I walked thru it there are entire wings shut down because there are no nurses to staff them.
We have 396 beds and our patient census is 270, but that’s considered “full” right now because we cannot staff the all the beds.
Big difference
85 percent is a 15 percent vacancy rate. Sounds about right for sanitizing and turnover to me.
I guess the only solution is another lockdown
If what you’re doing isn’t working the solution is to do twice as much of it
