So they can make it really high to get rid of having to ever acknowledge the issue of the ridiculously low bail he was already out on. It will never be mentioned again, only the $5M.

Why he’s even being offered a bond is beyond me, given that they’ve said it was intent. IE.....Murder. Not sure any state in the country has a law that prevents a jurisdiction from deny any bond with regards to Murder.

The 10% is a fee that the suspect, Brooks in this case, would pay a bonding company to cough up the $5,000,000. That’s money Brooks isn’t getting back. It’s the price he pays to be able to walk around town waiting to go to trial.
And it may vary, but the bonding company will get their $5,000,000 back from the state either after he shows up or after the trial is over.
I could be 100% wrong, but I don’t see Brooks having access to $500k and I don’t seen any bonding company coughing up that kind of money for him.
