The new normal? Bay Area is hit by THIRD consecutive day of looting as 50-strong hammer gang storms jewelry store after Macy's and Lululemon stores were hit: Thieves take advantage of woke 'misdemeanor' law

The San Francisco Bay Area faced a third consecutive day of brazen shoplifting on Sunday

A group of about 40 to 50 teenage looters wielding hammers smashed glass cases at a Hayward jewelry store and ran off with an unknown amount of goods at around 5.30pm Sunday The suspects also reportedly ran into other stores in the Southland Mall and walked away with clothes and shoes, though police do not know how many items were stolen Just about an hour later, in San Jose, a group of suspects entered a Lululemon store in the outdoor mall at Santana Row and took an unknown amount of merchandise before they fled the scene

The thefts come one day after a group of 80 brazen shoplifters entered a Nordstrom in nearby Walnut Creek Three people were arrested in that incident, in which three employees were injured

And on Friday, a Luis Vuitton store in San Francisco's Union Square was targeted and ransacked by a group of more than a dozen thieves

Residents in the business owners in the area cite a 2014 law that downgraded the theft of property less than $950 in value from a felony charge to a misdemeanor for the rise in thefts They also blame woke San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin for a rise in crime - he now faces a recall election amid fury over his soft-on-crime stance

Pretty sure insurance doesn’t cover this kind of ransacking.

Wait till they start going door to door.

They will do it!

Anybody who has a nice car out front, or a nice appearing residence will be targets.

The new normal?

Yup. Tell the world there are no consequences for that kind of behavior and they will bust down your door....literally.

I expect all of the people's republik of kalifornia will look like that in a few short months. L A can't be far behind. Time to start building a wall between them and Arizona.

AOC - “These are desperate people who are just trying to feed themselves and provide for their families during the pandemic.”

SF business owners - “They are stealing TV’s, jewelry, designer clothes and Air Jordan’s... no-one is stealing food or holding up Wendy’s for a hamburger and fries.”

AOC - “Can you blame them for needing to pick up a few things they want along the way? This is America! Everyone deserves to have what they want.”

SF business owners - “As long as you can pay for it.”

AOC - “Their methods of shopping are different form others... don’t be a racist!”

That in itself is very amusing. I imagine that bookstores would be left completely alone.

In history and in portrayals in Western novels, movies and TV, mobs of lowlife thugs would steal livestock, break into country stores and steal, shoot innocent people and so on. So vigilantes solved this until one honest sheriff somewhere and one honest judge would take over actual mundane law enforcement. Gary Cooper type role.

Never as effective because criminals outnumbered honest wimpy people as today.

Now we have the same thing but mundane law enforcement is too cowardly or living by the law of the corrupt mayors and others, so “no arrests” or tiny number (I think 2 arrested (!!) in the Vuitton caper).

Either civilization will disintegrate or vigilantes will prevail, or, maybe, the millions of dollars spent on the corrupt system of mundane “justice” will stage a comeback.
And not just power for the Left, but “equal justice for all.”

Horrible.

Our family used to travel to San Francisco frequently.

It started going downhill for us about ten years ago. There were more beggars than regular people. Customer service was awful just about everywhere. Especially the hotels. We tried staying in Oakland as an alternative and were met with the worst customer service ever. We took a taxi to the ferry and the taxi driver went off route to pick up his girlfriend who was crying insanely……on our dime. We don’t ask a lot….but, you know?
Those painted, moving statues in the park were aggressive. We brought family with us and clearly had tourist written all over us. The last time was the last time.
If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear a helmet on your hair 🎶.

I agree. Now it’s time to determine what that looks like and how it happens.

Just had a conversation the other day with a person who works at large retailer (upscale store, not walmart).

They are unable to do anything when a person shop lifts. They must call a number and send email notifying the security office for the Retailer. Nobody answers the phone, and they will call back in the middle of the night when nobody is manning the store.

When nobody answers the phone at 1:30 am, they close the incident with no action.

They had a shipping container rob on the back of the store. They are unable to view the security tapes are hand the over the security tapes to law enforcement. Only a person certify can review and hand over tapes to the law enforcement. That corporate security office never acted on the incident.

The only way a person gets arrested for shopping lifting or for stilling from the shipping container is if Police catch them red handed. The employees and management hands are tied because of possible law suits if they act.

You can shoplift and steal from this store with no repercussions if the police are not around to catch you. The thieves know this and make regular rounds.

The elites in this country are absolutely heartless in how cruel they are to the poor...

When entire neighborhoods have no grocery stores or retail outlets, delivery and online shopping will be the only option... A lot of poor people live in a cash based economy without debit cards, credit ratings, or bank accounts...

Simply by making such places unable to operate profitably or obtain commercial insurance.

Stores with stuff on display had better take measures. That’s practically all stores, thousands.
