Rep. Nadler Calls for Federal DOJ To Consider Charges Against Kyle Rittenhouse
Legal Insurrection ^ | Friday, November 19, 2021 | Teri Christoph

“This heartbreaking verdict is a miscarriage of justice and sets a dangerous precedent which justifies federal review by DOJ.”

The left’s reaction to Kyle Rittenhouse being acquitted of all charges was predictable and not particularly creative. According to them, he deserves to die, rot in hell, yadda, yadda, yadda.

But one Democrat is taking things further by calling on the Biden DOJ to consider federal charges against Rittenhouse. Rep. Jerry Nadler, who is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, tweeted his call for a federal review just hours after the jury’s verdict was announced.

Many on the left, who so nonchalantly and callously dismiss the damage done to people and property by BLM and Antifa, support Nadler’s call for a federal investigation. It could be argued that Democrats are so accustomed to things going their way that they can’t handle it when they lose.

Nadler would be wise to step away from his emotions over the verdict and think about the repercussions of pushing the narrative that Kyle Rittenhouse was a white supremacist who violated the civil rights of his attackers. The government failed — spectacularly! — in making that case and the Kenosha jury decided what most knew all along: it was simply a case of self-defense.

Federal and State laws are different so a distinct Fed charge can be filed without incurring double jeopardy.

Hope they do it. This will help the 2022 midterms and 2024 POTUS election.

Reports are now there is cheering around the courthouse and people are honking their horns on the streets in support.

I live in a lefty area and people here are very supportive of the verdict, I've been hearing it all over town all day.

Hmmm. I bet the defense team got a lot of publicity value from trying this case. Even though man thought they didn’t do a stellar job.

Maybe even throw in a 4 AM FBI raid with CNN on site to televise it. Haul Rittenhouse off and detain him with the Jan 6 people.

Yeah, that will go over well.

I was a kid in the early ‘90s. But looking back with what we know about BLM movement and everything that had happened during the George Floyd riots, the cops in Rodney King beatings were railroaded by the Feds. We had no Free Republic or Breitbart back then. Too bad.

Cleveland just selected a new mayor. I’ll let the readers guess his race based on his tweet today:

“Today’s verdict in the #KyleRittenhouse trial shows there are two criminal justice systems in our country,” Bibb said. “We won’t have equal justice under the law as long as this double standard continues. My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones in Kenosha that night.”

Geez don’t give them any ideas! The Stasi pigs just need to root around long enough, use their creepy little imaginations, they’ll make up something if they can.

We need to rid this country of these evil wicked people and deprogram/ un brainwash our youth and 1/2 the country.

Good point.

Intentional or not it can certainly have that effect.

Feed the hate and get the democrat shock troops foaming at the mouth again.

Thank you all most kindly for your replies. This is quite disconcerting (understatement)!

Okay, so they theoretically could bring federal charges (hate crime?) and there’s the old saying about grand juries indicting ham sandwiches. But would they want to risk another trial with a regular jury finding him not guilty? Surely they would rather just let the story die?

I hope Nadler is just making noises for the cameras and they won’t follow through with actual charges. Perhaps it is a vain hope.

“Federal and State laws are different so a distinct Fed charge can be filed without incurring double jeapordy.”

The people who created the U.S. Constitution included a provision to prohibit double jeopardy so that the state - with unlimited resources - could not go after an unpopular person over, and over, and over again (despite being acquitted by a jury) like the King of England did prior to the revolution.

Fast forward: the federal government has created provisions that allows its apparatus to go after an unpopular person over, and over, and over again despite being acquitted by a jury. This has been found by the federal government to be constitutional by the federal government.
