You mean to tell me, they’re leaving the town where they started?

Yep, practically an historic site.

Back in the 1960s, politicians from such New England states wanted a ban on the import and sale of “Army surplus Rifles and handguns”. The claim was it was for “Crime control.”

Actually it was to protect their gun makers from cheap competition.
A Remington or Winchester hunting rifle cost $45-$75 dollars.
An army surplus rifle was $10-15.

Now those politicians are driving their own gun industries out into more friendly states in the South.

Suites me!

I saw La Grange and immediately thought “ZZ TOP”! Unfortunately, it’s La Grange, GA, not TX!

“This type of sloppy, crappy journalism irks me.”

Communist media does these kinds of things on purpose. Surely, you understand that?

Ruger bought some (Marlin)and other companies bought the other divisions

Prescott and Prescott Valley in Arizona is trying to get Ruger to move more of their operations here, including Marlin. Ruger’s handguns are made in Prescott and they own (or owned) land here.

I did trade NY for Georgia. Enjoying the weather, collection of NFA arms, redneck sensibilities, and still has much of the NY feel (at least north GA having mountains).

“We need ammo”

Broad range featured at https://www.remington.com - the first part of Remington to re-emerge from managerial collapse.

Hopefully the’ll bring the Advanced Armament subsidiary with them.
AAC started in GA as a most innovative suppressor manufacturer. Got bought by Remington, paid the AAC founder a big check for it, kicked him out, then whole company went under taking AAC with it.
Being in the suppressor market at the moment (need a strong can for a 12” bolt .308, only trusting AAC’s cans), I’d like to see them start producing again.

I agree with you, but to be fair, the point of the piece for this mid-sized city newspaper was how excited they were that a giant gun manufacturer was moving its global headquarters to their area.

Back in the 60s and 70s family road trips often led through LaGrange where we were guaranteed almost every time to have to stop at a railroad crossing for a lengthy train.

AAC was sold off in bankruptcy court last year.

https://huntsvillebusinessjournal.com/lead/2020/09/29/hearing-today-in-bankruptcy-court-on-remington-break-up-sale/

“Minnesota-based Vista Outdoor will acquire Remington’s ammunition manufacturing facility in Arkansas, and related intellectual property, including the Remington brand and trademarks, for $81.4 million.

Sturm Ruger offered $30 million for Remington’s Marlin firearms, court papers show, with Roundhill Group paying $13 million for its non-Marlin weapons operations.

Missouri-based Sierra Bullets will pay $30.5 million for Remington’s Barnes ammunition.

JJE Capital Holdings LLC is buying H&R, Stormlake, AAC and Parker brands, while Sportsman’s Warehouse is getting the Tapco brand, court papers reveal.

Nevada’s Franklin Armory was the winning bidder for the Bushmaster brand.”
