Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) urged his party to focus on President Biden heading into 2022, and not relitigating the 2020 election that former President Trump still falsely claims was stolen.
McConnell, speaking to reporters during a weekly press conference, was asked if he was comfortable with the party embracing Trump. The former president was at a retreat over the weekend for Senate Republicans' campaign arm and endorsed Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) for reelection in Iowa earlier this month.
“Well I do think we need to be talking about the future, not the past,” McConnell told reporters Tuesday.

“Let’s get back to importing a permanent Democrat majority and forget all that national sovereignty stuff”
Mitch wrote off 2020 at the same time he wrote of 2016, in
the late summer of 2016.
Get that bucket of bolts out of there.
The guy has no idea what first steps means, to victory.
I don’t get it either.
He’s endorsed Micro “Amnestio” Rubio, too, who is diametrically opposed to immigration enforcement.
We will never Make America Great Again by re-electing the same Assistant Democrats who have been importing a permanent Democrat majority for them.
It is not an either/or argument. A horse pulling a cart requires both horse and cart, and no argument about which goes first assumes the lack of either horse or cart.
That is, until the Republicans recapture congress in a big way, they cannot truly investigate 2020 fraud.
However, unlike the 2016 election, when Republicans won big, but then *did not* investigate *and* prosecute Democrat criminality, if the Republicans win big again in 2022, “their feet must be held to the fire” to prosecute criminal Democrats.
President Trump’s two Attorney Generals were both yellow bellied this way, for unknown and likely terrible reasons.
In a manner of speaking, refusing to prosecute Democrat party leaders for blatantly criminal acts is AS BAD OR WORSE as “defund the police” Democrat policies in the cities.
We see what has happened in the cities. But done at the national level, by Jeff Sessions and William Barr, lets the Democrats run wild to try to tear down the timbers of the national house. Exactly what Joe Biden & co. are trying to do.
Assuming the Republicans again capture congress, and President Trump to again become POTUS, we MUST have an iron willed Attorney General of the United States who will pursue and punish criminal Democrats. No excuses. No delays.
Turtle is right. A fossil like mccocaine is the past. MAGA is the future.
Go back into your shell and shut up Mitch.
I guess only the anti-Trump crowd is allowed to make it a referendum about Trump.
“,,,that former President Trump still falsely claims was stolen.”
Every lying, lib media jerk adds this statement. That’s opinion, not fact.
Starting to think “journalists “ should be licensed.
You are absolutely right turtle.....we are looking to the future —— one without you!!!!
Yeah, Mitch? Well guess what? The future doesn’t include desiccated old turtles, so go pound sand.
I agree. The GOP should focus on the future.A future without Mitch Mcconnel leading the Senate.
Will someone give this a$$ COVID-Delta!?
I agree with Mitch here. We should focus on a future that doesn’t include Mitch.
About as clearly and succinctly stated as possible.
HOWEVER, we must pick his successor very, very carefully -- and no I'm not talking about Ky Senator-in-Waiting AG Daniel Cameron, I'm talking about his US Senate lady-in-waiting -- Joni Ernst.
Bear with me.
We absolutely must skip over Thune and Barrasso.
That leaves Blunt, Ernst, Scott and Grassley (F Cornyn, non-starter).
Two scenarios: Grassley as stand-in until 2024 ( ugh, this short-term would suffice, but you have to hate a scenario where you are certain to replace your Majority Leader after the outcome of a Presidential election year ); OR either Ernst or Scott for the long haul.
Tough call. Scott is a lot like the 2nd-round QB that initially you don't expect to work out exactly perfect but maybe blossoms once in a pure leadership role; and on the other hand, I suspect Ernst to fold on what-will-be-inevitable-amnesty-without-the-absolute-correct-MajorityLeader, exactly like her cheap Cankle pantsuits.
The long and the short of that is that Scott would spike amnesty believing it might help his long-term presidency goals, whereas Ernst would mistakenly permit amnesty along the same presidency goals, but her better judgment overriden (like all women) by her inherited-from-Miotch, short-sighted, non-conservative policy rationales, ie, 'Get all the GOPe loser topics off the MSM table by simply agreeing to them via SCOTUS': Obamacare "Tax-is-a-fee"; f@g matrimony; rapist tr@nnies in school bathrooms.
"Amid the 2018–19 United States federal government shutdown that resulted after Trump demanded $5.7 billion for a border wall, Ernst said she would "tend to agree that not all areas of our border need a physical barrier" if they are monitored by technology or Border Patrol agents and it was possible to respond in a "timely manner"
Steve. Seriously?
Kentucky GOP Primary featured 6 palookas who couldn't get to 20% combined vs Miotch.
The Main Event featured eat-a-baby-and-sell-the-parts Amy McGrath, who lost by 19.53%.
No fraud need be intimated, except the 75M jammed through Amy McGrath's terrible campaign. Right there! You want some fraud? Investigate that PAC money laundering through McGrath's campaign. 75M to lose by 20% -- ho ho ho pull this leg and it plays Jingle Bells...
Go “entertain” yourself Turtle.
Can’t walk and chew gum at the same time?
