Nikolas Cruz will plead guilty to murdering 17 people in the Parkland school shooting massacre three years ago, his lawyer said Friday.
The 23-year-old will change his plea during a scheduled court hearing in Florida next Wednesday.
His attorney told Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer during a brief hearing on Friday that Cruz will plead guilty to 17 counts of first-degree murder in the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
The plea comes with no conditions, according to his attorney, which means Cruz will be fighting against the death penalty and hoping for life without parole.

Talk about justice delayed being justice denied - why didn’t he go to trial two years and six months ago?
Other than Texas he picked the wrong state to pull this evil.
I suspect the death penalty is being seriously considered.

The school system ignored the warnings in order to avoid the appearance of bias as directed by the Obama administration.
He should have never gotten the chance to undertaken the shooting. The police and FBI knew he was high risk.
A question is why plead now? Is it to add visibility to gun control efforts.

Prison laws change over the years....I expect he’ll be out and about in 25 years or so.
HE’ll simply adapt to a new ‘Community”.....in Prison. And all his needs will be met including those he didn’t count on or want.
The State will still have to support him for decades while waiting for appeal, appeal, appeal.
..............this punk lost his real dad at six to death and he was raised by a stepmom who had 28 arrests on her record and was heavily addicted to cocaine use.
At least arguably, his stepmom ought to be sitting in prison with him.
Justice would be public execution…and soon…
