Kamala Harris says US ‘must not shy away’ from ‘shameful past’ of Columbus Day

Vice President Kamala Harris has said that the US “must not shy away” from the “shameful past” of how the first European explorers “ushered in a wave of devastation for tribal nations.”

Harris made the comments Tuesday to the National Congress of American Indians, saying it was “an honor” to address them “as we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day,” the newly recognized name for Columbus Day.

“Since 1934, every October the United States has recognized the voyage of the European explorers who first landed on the shores of the Americans,” she said.

“But that is not the whole story. That has never been the whole story.

Reservations are Federal property, but at the same time by treaty it is unlikely they will or legally can dump illegals there without tribal consent. If it were not for Casinos, no self-respecting Mexican would live on an Indian Reservation. Even with Casinos, most are $hitholes. We have American Indians in our family some still live on the Rez. If you see a nice house the Rez, those families either work good jobs or are tribal elders making bucks off the Casino. The real pain will be felt in areas where business will hire a Mexican over an American Indian. Sadly, Mexicans are more reliable workers. They know they will be fired if they miss work or screw off, they have no recourse as the job will be filled with another illegal who wants to work. Only jobs for Natives will be Casinos or Rez owned businesses.

True, she is just trying to make up a new leftist approved history. Perhaps Ms. Harris could inform everyone about the places in the world where people of Indian descent have migrated and displaced indigenous populations. Places like Kenya or South Africa, or parts of the Indian subcontinent and surrounding nations.
