The teenage gunman who opened fire in an Arlington, Texas, school on Wednesday has been released on bond, a day after pulling a gun from his backpack and shooting a 'bully', a teacher and one other girl.
Timothy George Simpkins was being held on a $75,000 bond on three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but the 18-year-old walked out of Tarrant County Jail on Thursday afternoon.
Simpkins said nothing as he strode out of the jail in a blue t-shirt, matching baseball cap worn backwards, and jeans.
It's unclear why he has been charged with aggravated assault and not attempted murder or more serious charges, or why the judge granted him bail.
A video of their fight was posted on social media by Simpkins' cousin on Wednesday night in an effort to prove that he was being bullied.
It shows Simpkins - who was identified by police as wearing a light colored hoodie in the footage - being pummeled by the other boy, who is three years his junior, while holding his hands around his head.
Once the fight was over, he went to his orange backpack, pulled out of his gun and started shooting.
He shot the other boy 'seven to eight times', according to one student who was interviewed by police, and also shot 25-year-old Calvin Pettitt, a teacher who had tried to break up the fight. Pettitt was shot in the back.
Both he and the 15-year-old boy remain in the hospital. Pettitt is expected to survive and is in a good condition but the 15-year-old boy is in critical condition.
A third victim - a teenage girl - suffered a graze wound but is no longer in the hospital.

That statement is bullshit. Pure and simple. They know exactly he was not charged with attempted murder. And was granted bail. He is a member of the protected class. By Thursday night he will be robbing, gang banging, and slinging dope. He will be wide open. They probably give him his gun back. If they ever took it. There are about to be a whole hell of a lot of people with his lead in them.

'He was robbed. It was recorded. It happened not just once, it happened twice. He was scared, he was afraid.
If those are true statements, and I have no reason not to believe them, then I would do whatever is necessary to keep that from happening again.
I'm not excusing the shooting but judging from the video, this kid really got his ass handed to him by a bigger kid who may have been targeting him and filled with an adrenaline fueled fear and rage, got the only weapon he felt would protect him and dealt his own justice. Unfortunately there were two other people who also got shot........
It should be noted that there appeared to be no adult of authority in that classroom that should have prevented that beat down from happening.......
As far as I'm concerned, the release from jail and the bond are justified and I hope the kid gets the justice he deserves considering everything that led up to the event.......

I think you got some bad info, no worries it happens. I’ve read at least 4 articles and watched the video numerous times and every indication is the kid getting beat is the shooter, not the kid doing the beating. Until I learn otherwise I’m sticking with that.

You think for one second that kid was thinking about "stand your ground laws"? I don't.
There is no question that there were numerous laws broken which I'm sure will be addressed but I'm certainly not going to convict him for attempted murder.
And after all is said and done, I would applaud the parents if they went after the school for ignoring the prior claims of the kid being bullied and robbed on several occasions that they claim were reported.

I don't trust the press or the MSM, I trust the verified Timberview High School realtime video that clearly shows Timothy Simpkins, at this point in the video, halfway through a one-sided fight, caught in a restraint headlock administered by his 15-year-old assailant just before Simpkins is thrown into that back wall -- and by the way, the black Simpkins is rather obviously not a white 25-year-old teacher named Calvin Pettitt, as you falsely asserted.
