Mayor Lori Lightfoot and a group of City Council members urged Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx Monday to reconsider prosecuting five suspects in a deadly gang-related shootout last week in Austin after they were released when prosecutors rejected charges against them.

Chicago police sought to charge all five suspects with murder and aggravated battery after they allegedly engaged in a Friday morning gunfight between two factions of the Four Corner Hustlers street gang, the Chicago Sun-Times first reported.

The state’s attorney’s office, however, declined to charge any of them, calling the evidence insufficient. A police report further noted that prosecutors told investigators charges were rejected because the shootout involved “mutual combatants.”

Kim Foxx, the Soros-backed leftist Cook County States Attorney, is a protege of Cook County Board President Preckwinkle who lost the mayoralty election to Lightfoot.

My belief is that this is partly being done deliberately to cause enough dissatisfaction with Lightfoot enable Preckwinkle to win the next election.

Lightfoot is certainly no prize, but the Machine opposing her is willing to have hundreds killed simply to gain power.

Those inside the house refused to come out and a SWAT team was called, giving the three time to get rid of all their guns and clean up any remaining evidence, the letter says. Several gun cases, but no weapons, were found, a fact the mayor and alderman say alone warrants further investigation.

This part of the story makes no sense to me. It's not like you can flush the gun parts down a toilet. The house needs a through after action search because the guns HAVE to be there somewhere!
