Mayor Lori Lightfoot and a group of City Council members urged Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx Monday to reconsider prosecuting five suspects in a deadly gang-related shootout last week in Austin after they were released when prosecutors rejected charges against them.
Chicago police sought to charge all five suspects with murder and aggravated battery after they allegedly engaged in a Friday morning gunfight between two factions of the Four Corner Hustlers street gang, the Chicago Sun-Times first reported.
The state’s attorney’s office, however, declined to charge any of them, calling the evidence insufficient. A police report further noted that prosecutors told investigators charges were rejected because the shootout involved “mutual combatants.”

This precedent would have real potential if it also applied to vigilante-gangster violence. But I’m sure a Soros prosecutor would come down hard on that.

Sounds like Kim Foxx and the prosecutors are afraid of these animals. Their decision will just make things worse.

The main problem with the shootout is, there was more than one survivor on both sides.

So evading the police, illegal possession, discharging firearms, felon in possession, are just a few things I can come up with that are illegal and prosecutable for all these jokers regardless of who shot first and who was defending. Also, it is a pretty safe assumption that vehicles entering this neighborhood were not ambushed but were the perpetrators. I don’t see this as muddled as the prosecution says it is. At a minimum, they should get these idiots of the street for a year or two.
Didn’t Oak Park, along with Morton Grove completely ban handguns years ago?
