An armed robber was shot in the face in Texas when his victim pulled out his own gun and shot at him, just days after a Texas law went into effect allowing residents to carry handguns without permits.
"He was shot in the face one time. He’s at the hospital. He’s going to live. He’s conscious and breathing right now," Houston Police Department Lieutenant R. Willkens said.
The incident unfolded Wednesday evening in Houston when the victim was walking to a local Shell gas station to make a few purchases, SBG San Antonio reported.
The suspect in the case was dropped off around the same time, and approached the victim by lifting his shirt to expose a gun and demanded he fork over any valuables.
The victim, however, was also armed and pulled out his weapon and shot the suspect in the face. The suspect is in the hospital and in police custody.
Additionally, no charges are expected to be brought against the victim, as he was defending himself.

Anybody worth shooting once, is worth shooting a couple more times just to be safe. Now his treatment and incarceration costs are imposing a burden on the tax payers.
Think of your fellow tax payers. "Two to center mass, one to the head".
In a perfect world... Both Freelance and Government backed.
A feral savage I presume.
FWIW, Here is my 2cents. I’m old school, which translates to “the land of snubbies”. I gravitate towards things like wadcutters/semiwadcutters. I read an old story by a NYC cop in the late ‘60’s. He mentioned that round nose bullets can, if face shot, burrow around the skull and exit out the back of it, with a miinor wound. He advocated wadcutters in snubbies, because the short barrel does not provide enough exit velocity for hollow points “to fail as designed”.
Kudos to the defender!!
Wait, if he did not draw, then he was not an immediate threat so the response was effectively firing on an unarmed citizen.

You can't win them all.
More of this and crime will drop as criminals will have to rethink whether their crime is worth the risk.
Larger calibers needed with hollow points
Lower.
I vote for lower.
Have to be legally qualified to own a gun I think.
Personally I think if you are not legally confined you can own and carry. Any other requirement is a 2a violation.
**Additionally, no charges are expected to be brought against the victim, as he was defending himself.**
Today’s news would report the victim as the attacker and the attacker (in the hospital) as a victim.
So now he’ll be easily identifiable next time he tries to rob somone
The new law is working already 👍🏻
I filled up the rental car last week at that very same gas station.
Gonna need to start taking a gat with me on business trips to Houston!
BS...the purpose of carrying is to resist threat...he did that just fine.
Did it leave a black mark?

“Gonna need to start taking a gat with me on business trips to Houston!”
Would that be a gal, gun, or gnat?
No gun registration is done in Texas.
Anyone who can legally purchase a firearm, background check required, can legally carry, open or concealed. I opt for concealed.
Here’s a good write up of requirements and FAQ
