Fines in Victoria are based on increments called ‘penalty units’ which rise with inflation. Originally a ‘penalty unit’ was $100 but it’s risen over the last few decades to be $181.74 - this a 30 penalty unit fine - so 30 x 181.74 rounded to the nearest dollar is $5,452.

They are certainly going to try and win the next election. I'm not sure what 'pivot' you think they need to do. The vaccine rollout is about the only reason they are not easily in a poll winning position right now.

Teflon Dan has already survived messing up hotel quarantine so badly last year that 700 people died unnecessarily. I'd love to see him trashed over something, but I can't see this doing it.

Not impossible, but I think it's unlikely. It's now pretty clearly understood within the Liberal Party that the polls that lead to the replacement of Abbott, and then the replacement of Turnbull were garbage polls that didn't reflect reality. There's something wrong with polling in Australia - it's severely underestimating conservative support and that's now basically understood. There's also the issue that there's probably nobody to replace Morrison (I'd like Dutton on the basis of competency, but he's incredibly unpopular with huge sections of the electorate).

OK - this is interesting because I absolutely do not have a clue what you are talking about here. I have no recollection of Berejiklian using the term 'final solution' and searching the internet I cannot find any reference to her doing so. I haven't heard or read every single speech she's ever made so I can't categorically say she hasn't used that phrase somewhere but I'd like to know where. I can't see her using that phrase and the left wing press in Australia not absolutely crazy about it. I would expect it to be absolutely everywhere - just as it was a couple of years ago when Fraser Anning used the phrase in a speech.

I've just done some more searching. I think you've been deceived by a video that has been edited to make her say that phrase - they've taken the word final and the word solution from two different speeches and edited them together.
