More than 100 House Democrats are backing legislation introduced Friday that would lower Medicare eligibility to age 60, down from 65.

The Improving Medicare Coverage Act was co-sponsored by at least 125 Democrats, led by Reps. Pramila Jayapal (Wash.), Conor Lamb (Pa.), Joe Neguse (Colo.), Susan Wild (Pa.), Haley Stevens (Mich.) and Debbie Dingell (Mich.).

Jayapal said the legislation would expand coverage to an additional 23 million people.

"Lowering the Medicare eligibility age will not only be life-changing for at least 23 million people, it will also be life-saving for so many across America who will finally be able to get the care they need and deserve," Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, said in a statement.

Democrats are aiming to include the provisions of the bill in the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package focused on "human infrastructure." They also want that legislation to expand Medicare coverage to hearing, vision and dental care.

"We are the only industrialized nation that does not have guaranteed access to health care for all its citizens - this needs to change now," Dingell said in a statement. "We're working on ensuring universal health care, and this includes lowering the Medicare eligibility age to 60 so that more adults can get the critical access to the quality, affordable health care they need."

But lowering Medicare eligibility, as well as the price tag of the broader package, is encountering resistance from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who recently urged fellow Democrats to "hit pause" on the $3.5 trillion measure.

Congressional committees are aiming to finish drafting their portions of the budget reconciliation package by Sept. 15.

Just what everyone needs at that age; more Uncle Sugar control and intrusion into their everyday lives.

You will be vaxxed, or else. Sky’s the limit with these clowns.

Insurance companies will.
Getting price discounts is a large part of their business model.
But it’s all just games. The hospital company raises their list price to account for the discount.
Going back to the anti-trust pricing laws would eliminate a lot of activity that ultimately just adds to the final price tag. Whole departments at insurance companies, medical providers, and legal firms will be shut down, if the medical provider has to set a price and stick to it.

They are planning for folks who die for the jab. The average death age will be lower.

They should be obligated to show where the money went. It’s straight up theft.

“ Some people rather have a new car with a big monthly payment than a monthly payment for health insurance.”

That never once crossed my mind in the almost 40 years I’ve had to buy my own insurance. Fortunately insurance was really inexpensive till about 15 years ago. Then it became outrageous because of Obama. My policy more than doubled in cost. So I had to get an inferior policy. Not good for a cancer survivor.

“Eligibility” means coercion via penalties.

I think you have a point there.

they have said the US average age of death was DECLINING already pre-covid due to the substance abuse problems.

The average continues to decline and dropped significantly in 2020.

As the average drops, which doesn’t necessarily mean people who reach retirement are dying earlier, it means there are less people reaching retirement.

The death from covid or the shot skews things, but those surviving may actually live out normal lifespans. They may be anticipating the continued contraction in the average lifespan. which essentially means less people getting to the age of needing medicare.

Two things happening as far as solvency and that is less births and less good paying jobs. Aging boomers isn’t the issue, the issue is the weak economy over the course of recent decades.

rather than lower the age, which will just increase the pool of seniors living on subsistence income, raise the monthly payout rate instead so seniors can adjust to the higher rents and higher prices at the grocery store and for utilities, that higher minimum wages drive

LOWER IT!!!!!

How about raise it to 70!!!!
SS to 70!!!
30 years of employment (payroll taxes) to qualify for either.

Let’s try something new, like preserving retirement for working people. Believe me when I say that 60 is nonsense.

Sadly, that looks to be the case. They've already informed us that Social Security will be bust in 2034, yet all these filthy ragheads and wetbacks they're bringing are eligible for SS. Even though they've never contributed a dime.

What do we do when our elected government is so obviously determined to destroy us? We have neither voice nor representation. We also don't have the will to fight. I'm an old man. Any fantasy of watering the tree of liberty, etc, is pretty much out of the question. Almost absurd.

My theory:
Get sick from Covid, insurance won’t pay because experimental vaccine. Go on SSDI
Die from Covid, insurance won’t pay because experimental vaccine.
Enough people get sick and go on SSI, crash the whole thing and we get socialized medicine.

It is going bankrupt with the current load of recipients - and they want to add millions more?

The revenue lost from this move would cause higher healthcare prices for everyone else and likely further facility closures.

Worse than that. You aren’t allowed to negotiate your own price if you have a HDHP.
