Chinese university appears to ask for lists of LGBTQ+ students for ‘investigation’

A well-known Chinese university appears to have asked its colleges to make lists of their LGBTQ+ students and report on their “state of mind”, according to a purported internal directive published online on both Chinese and foreign social media platforms.

Shanghai University has not confirmed the request or responded to queries about its intention, but it has sparked alarm among young Chinese people, coming after a crackdown on campus groups and organisations supporting LGBTQ+ and feminist communities.

The “Campus Survey”, citing “relevant requirements”, asked colleges to “investigate [and] research” students identified as LGBTQ+. It also requested information on the students’ state of mind and psychological condition, including political stance, social contacts, and mental health status. The questionnaire did not explain what “relevant requirements” it was referring to.

Students and activists have expressed concern that the information-gathering exercise could signal further targeting of students. Some legal experts on Weibo are questioning whether such a practice would violate China’s new data privacy law.

Shanghai University’s communications department could not be reached for comment. Other departments referred the Guardian to the communications department.

No good comes from being on a government list. Especially not the CCP’s list.

Good God, yes. I think I trust Bill Cosby mixing me a drink more than the CCP.

Stop the presses! This is amazing!

The old, "reliably Red" Manchester Guardian finally finds something Communist it doesn't endorse!

China has a data privacy law? The same China which has a social credit score for their people, which by definition means they collect a lot of private information to compile the social credit score they assign to their people?

We are supposed to believe a totalitarian regime has a data privacy law, and that the powers that be within that totalitarian regime would respect such a law? Really?

ANY organization from China must have permission from the state-run entity to which it belongs. You can not start a bowling league in China without some involvement of the State. If it is a large or important enough organization, it will be required to have a Communist Party representative.

As such, I would be surprised if any LGBTQ groups have ever been permitted to organize anywhere in China. Perhaps there were informal groups, operating without harassment on some college campuses if they “kept to themselves.”

This would be a good cause for antifa to voluntarily enter china to defend the rights of the chinese alphabet people.

First they persecute the Moslem Uighurs, and now this. It looks like nothing the Chinese government does will offend American liberals.

Even here in the USA should be removed from teaching positions, management positions, any position where and they might have any influence whatsoever. For China, whatever they want to do within their borders as their own business.

China is the “competitor” as George W Bush put it of course stronger words might seem in order.

The Secular Socially Liberal COVID Tyranny of the West is in competition with the CCP Tyranny for world domination.

Whatever China is doing it must be painted in a negative light for LGBTQ+ audiences in the West as part of the “competition” with China.

I have seen countless negative stories about Uighur Muslims in China the BBC used to put them out every Wednesday.

I know those stories have intelligence agency government footprints in them.

China is an authoritarian state but this notion has to be sold to the public and this story helps to do that.

Sadly, all true.

Friend of mine once told me many decades ago in America, you can’t start a flower sniffing club with more than two members without one of them being an FBI informant; more than that, and one of them is an FBI agent.

It's a Communist country. Nothing is really what it's called. Like their army is the "Peoples' Liberation Army".

Maybe the data privacy law is used against unauthorized individual snoopers. Or maybe 100% only for show.

Smart.

It’s a public health issue.

There is a direct link between AIDS/HIV, suicides, pedophilia and homosexuality.

Only in America, we don’t want to see that and have politicians as well as the pop culture practice apologetics for this behavior. It’s a behavior, it’s a choice, it’s most comparable to a fetish that in America has become acceptable and is worn like it’s some badge of honor.

AIDS/HIV (2% of the population is responsible for 67% of this disease)
https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/group/msm/index.html

But go ahead and tell me it’s not a homo disease. Hahaha

The average lifetime cost of ***ONE*** single HIV case is >$250,000 for the HIV treatment alone, not counting the other issues that arise: https://www.verywellhealth.com/what-is-the-lifetime-cost-of-hiv-49641

But tell me there is no social/economic cost here. Hahaha

If you think rationally, you do care about having homo’s.

China has seen what both these groups have done to destroy the West.

They did not take dummy pills like our own elites and politicians.
