Up to 1,500 Americans are still trapped in Afghanistan and the U.S. is still relying on the Taliban to allow safe passage to Kabul airport with just six days before the August 31 deadline, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a press conference on Wednesday.
Blinken gave an updated on the airlift operation and the bid to get all citizens and Afghan allies out amid reports the CIA has joined U.S. troops in rescue missions outside the airport perimeter.
Thousands of people are still trying to leave Afghanistan as U.S. troops start leaving and evacuation flights begin to wrap up, but are being stopped and beaten by insurgents on their way.
Among those left are 24 school children from California who visited on a summer trip and haven't been able to leave.
Blinken appeared to blame Americans still on the ground for not leaving fast enough after first being warned earlier this year to leave Afghanistan as soon as possible.

I don't believe a damn word Biden says about anything. Seriously.
However, only American military personnel should have been in Aftrashistan. Dependents and nonessential personnel and diplomats should have left weeks ago. As for "California Students" (WTF!?), they had no business being there. It is some kind of modern New Age ethos where folks can be "tourists" anywhere they damn well please. I hope their next tourist stop is Hell.

"What on earth are California students doing in Afghanistan?"
Passing out pre-filled absentee ballots with votes already checked for Newsom, that the Afghanis can cast once they get State-side.

1,500? I’ve been reading the number was in the tens of thousands. They must have evacuated a lot of people since yesterday.

The “California students” are of Afghani extraction. This isn’t our parents America. The enemy is inside the wire.

As someone mentioned earlier all the Americans will be rescued if all we are down to is 1500. Biden is going to look like a hero.

seeing posts, of Helicopters abandoned in airports, and Afghanistan soldiers not knowing how to pilot them. I wondered WHY..didn’t they get the hardware out of the country, and offer it for sale on eBay, rather than hand it all over to the Taliban. This was just crazy. Poor planning that the Generals did...scratching my head.
To: PGR88
They are probably Afghans or of Afghan descent.
