Charlie Watts, best known as the prolific drummer for the rock band the Rolling Stones for more than half a century, has died. He was 80. A representative for Watts told Fox News Tuesday that the musician "passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family." No cause of death was given yet.

I apologize for being grouchy today. I think we are all on edge as we see what’s going down. And I do mean going down.
The music world was a better place for him being in it, for all the years he was.
Pretty sure when I saw them in 2019 at Soldier Field, that Charlie was the one who told Mick that he was on the wrong song on the set. Great moment, and Mick took it in stride.
Beautiful!
That’s a pity. I used Stub Hub, because the early tickets were always gone, I don’t regret one penny of the money we spent. The RS are the BEST BAND, and especially live performances are their thing. They never disappointed me.
We had wanted to see them again in 2020 but the CoVid gods shut everything down. This year they barely made it out of the gate. And now this. There will never be another band as good as the Stones.
Some people are Beatles fans, and while I like them, I am a Stones girl through and through. This is a huge loss.

No wonder I love them so much. I probably don’t have any childhood years that don’t include them in there somehow or another.
One of my RS faves. Classic rock and roll. Charlie was a genius. The sax is also awesome.
***80 years old is not an embarrassing age to die as a rock and roller. He lived an incredible life and he lived well.***
IMHO, Watts was taken too soon! He shouldn’t have left this earth before me. Or any of the Stones.
*** He’s no Ringo.***
Thank the good Lord for that! Watts is far superior to Starr as a drummer.
(I do like Ringo, but the Beatles are overrated. George and John were the only ones worth anything.)
No time like the present!
Charlie Watts was the mist minimal drummer I ever heard.
High hat snare.
That’s it.
If you’re wanting to diss Charlie to me tonight of all nights, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Is there a polite way to tell you to GFY?
Great drummers don’t need to hide behind cymbals and 12 tom-toms. Watts was humble but amazing. Simple, humble, and timeless.

I agree.
I didn’t put a value judgement on it.
I noticed it back when.
Listen to Satisfaction. He doesn’t do anything except the same beat all the way. The drum solo sounds like if but its just the same beat without the instruments for a measure or two.
It works. Sounds good.
Yep, and my first selection was “Dandelion”...Great drumming by Mr. Watts and a great Stones tune.
