Rep. Dan Crenshaw on Friday said President Joe Biden must authorize U.S. troops to expand the perimeter around Kabul's airport and retake another air base to help with evacuations. The Texas Republican, who served as a Navy SEAL for a decade and was wounded in Afghanistan in 2012, tweeted his thoughts early Friday morning. "Two things need to happen, and only Biden can authorize: 1. US military must be allowed to operate outside Kabul airport to get American citizens. 2: Retake Bagram airfield, thus giving us more options for evacuations. Biden created this mess and needs to take decisive action," Crenshaw tweeted.

The idea of retaking Bagram, etc., is extremely risky, but not because of resupply at the airport. Even if the Taliban bombard it, and they don’t have that much artillery, resupply can be done via parachute, among other means, and troops on hand probably can take and maintain a sufficient perimeter to land aircraft. Bagram will probably have to be taken with a parachute assault, at least initially. Air support will be difficult as only the USN can do it, and that at extreme range with no loiter time. But all this can be achieved, I think.
The really big problem is the hostage situation. When the US begins its attack the civilians (of all categories) in Kabul will be murdered wholesale.
That is their function: air assault.
(I know, technically the 101st is "air assault", but tell that to a member of the 82nd....)

“Have they been waiting and hoping for the Taliban to lay a hand on an American (a temptation which the Taliban have apparently resisted),”
For this brief moment the USA and the Taliban share the same objective.
*They want us gone
*We want to be out of there
For now this has stabilized our situation, but if either side pushes it will get very messy very fast.
Dan Crenshaw?
THE DAN CRENSHAW who recently told his fellow Americans there was definitely NO hankypanky in the 2020 election and SloJo won fair and square? THAT DAN CRENSHAW?
Dan, you’ve lost your credibility. Sit down, and keep your opinions to yourself. It’s because of people like you we’ve thousands of hostages in foreign lands sitting like ducks on a pond. You, sir, should be so ashamed of yourself you’ve taken to hiding in your closet (much like SloJo hiding in his basement in Delaware).

Our French and British protecting and rescuing u.s. citizens the Biden Regime were leaving to die horrid slavery and or death.
The optimal situation for the government of Afghanistan is:
All Americans out of their country with a) maximum humiliation and b) minimum physical trauma.
Having an air assault on Bagram (which could possibly succeed) is not in their interests. Having pitched battles in the streets of Kabul to “rescue” Americans who they want gone anyway is also not in their interests.
Anything which promotes the peaceful reunification of China IS in the Taliban’s interests, for many reasons. Having America’s loser-paper tiger status playing on TV for weeks HELPS China. Provoking America into killing Taliban DOES NOT help China.
He may have once been a Special Warfare soldier but now talks like a typical clueless politician and armchair general.
Everyone knows, nobody cares.
Never abandoning Bagram knowing that a NEO was coming would have been a good plan, but it was overruled by idiots and cowards. Retaking Bagram last Friday to support evacuation operations would have been better than the clown show going on now, but those idiots and cowards who had control of the situation would not allow it to happen because it would be an admission of guilt and failure.
Doing it now, we’d basically be invading Afghanistan again, the Taliban would have to respond with attacks because we would be shaming their credibility and a lot of people would die with American boots on the ground (after we said we were pulling out), and an already cowardly disaster will look even worse.
What’s going to happen now is we’re going to bribe the Taliban into allowing us to make a shameful retreat. We’ll get a token amount of AMCITs and a few lucky terps and politically connected folks out so we can claim to a willing media that we tried, and then we’ll tuck tail and run, probably while most of our former coalition partners are still operating their embassies and evacuating their citizens. It’s a damned disgrace and it dishonors everything that the American military, foreign service, and government should stand for, but elections have consequences.
I just hope the Taliban are respectful of our pronouns.

Those who decided to abandon Bagram to the tally bon should face a firing squad!
Yep... Deep State Rino... Crenshaw is a dirt bag.
Correct.
He has all the credibility of Linda Graham and Mitt Romney. Sometimes they’re right. Usually ...
I don’t even think we need to bribe the Taliban.
This whole little play is being carried out because it is in China’s interests. If any bribing was necessary, I’m sure China has already taken care of it.
****We have to regain credibility. Biden’s show of weakness makes China a huge hot-war threat until January 2025.
We can retake the airport in hours.
We can MOAB the entire country if needed.****
“Turn those machines back on”
Retaking Bagram at this point may be putting the horse before the cart. The problem is not having access to more runways. Planes are sitting empty and flying out less than half filled because citizens and Afghan translators cannot get to the airport to be flown out. The sole focus, at this point, should be opening safe corridors to get them to the airport and clearing the Afghan rabble just outside the airport hampering authorized passengers from getting in.They need to be forceful with the Taliban leadership to remove the ring around the airport for a week or two so they will not be attacking people trying to enter. This is where the immediate failure is right now when it comes to Austin and Milley. They are incompetent

Nonsense.
The whole Pitiful Helpless Giant made-for-TV movie is meant to convince any Taiwanese not yet convinced that resisting China is futile (which is correct).
Redeploying troops to Afghanistan is a hot war threat. Humiliating America is a peace gesture.
The fact the Taliban haven’t launched some mortars at the airport is a absolute miracle. How long do we think those nutjobs are going to watch our soldiers at the airport without trying to start something
