(EU) Allies embraced Biden. Did Kabul lay bare 'great illusion?'

BRUSSELS (AP) — Well before U.S. President Joe Biden took office early this year, the European Union's foreign policy chief sang his praises and hailed a new era in cooperation. So did almost all of Washington's Western allies.

The EU's Josep Borrell was glad to see the end of the Trump era, with its America First, and sometimes America Only policy, enthralled by Biden's assertion that he would "lead, not merely by the example of our power, but by the power of our example."

Sunday's collapse of Kabul, triggered by Biden's decision to get out of Afghanistan and a U.S. military unable to contain the chaos since, certainly put a stop to that. Even some of his biggest fans are now churning out criticism.

… "State-building was not the purpose? Well, this is arguable," a dejected Borrell said of Biden's stance, which has come under criticism in much of Europe...

French Parliamentarian Nathalie Loiseau put the unexpected EU-Biden disconnect more bluntly: "We lived a little bit the great illusion," she said. "We thought America was back, while in fact, America withdraws."

Even in the United Kingdom, …, barbs were coming from all angles.

Former British Army chief Richard Dannatt said, "the manner and timing of the Afghan collapse is the direct result of President Biden's decision to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan by the 20th anniversary of 9/11."

"To see their commander-in-chief call into question the courage of men I fought with, to claim that they ran, is shameful," Tugendhat said.

Chris Bryant, from the opposition Labour Party, called Biden's remarks about Afghan soldiers, "some of the most shameful comments ever from an American president."

In Prague, Czech president Milos Zeman said that, "by withdrawing from Afghanistan, the Americans have lost their status of global leader."

How many pieces of “art” did the Taliban buy from Hunter to get this collassal amount of classified weaponry, Blackhawks, missiles, drones and other armored weaponry?

Probably far less than you would imagine

Biden has been selling American lives for decades; and doesn’t even pretend to hide it.

We need Nuremberg trials, and thousands will hang

What did they expect when they worked to get one of the most incompetent politicians, now addled, into office?

The Europeans saw that they could manipulate Joe Biden. Indeed, they could. But at a price.....

America became a Great Power when Europeans migrated here after they rejected Europe's feudalist and class stratified culture. Now that Europe's inbred aristocrats have absorbed America's wretched thugocracy they are surprised that they have rendered America as useless as Europe.

I do find some comfort in knowing that Europe will burn first and I get to watch.

Biden’s attraction to certain European pundits was that he seemed more European than the achingly American Trump. It may be an opportunity for introspection on their part that perhaps they were right. And, in fact, he did accomplish one major European objective - to humiliate America.

“What did they expect when they worked to get one of the most incompetent politicians, now addled, into office?”

It was a collective delusion based upon their irrational hatred of Trump. No one with function senses should have under the impression that Biden was anything other than a senile old coot who wouldn’t have been a good president even in his best day. But despite all evidence to the contrary, they all believed in him like Tinkerbell. The media pretended he didn’t have dementia, so why not?

I truly despise Biden, but France withdrew all combat troops from Afghanistan in 2021 and the UK exited in 2014. Maybe if the leaders of France and GB had shown more leadership...

They should be ramping up defence spending several times what Trump was asking. It should be plainly obvious that the current government can not be relied upon. That or quit Natori and join Russia.

The Biden regime seems determined to destroy itself and every thing American it can put its soiled hands on. Is Joe lucky enough to somehow dodge the bullet, when the Taliban decide what to do with thousands of American and western hostages?

Isis would have them paraded around in disgrace, tortured and executed, on video. There is no way of knowing what the Taliban will do, and no way of controlling the situation. At least not for Biden. Trump would have been quite a different story.

“The EU’s Josep Borrell was glad to see the end of the Trump era”

Anyone who was glad to see the end of the Trump era is a Satan-sucking enemy of mankind.

(Title):" (EU) Allies embraced Biden. Did Kabul lay bare 'great illusion?' "

No, the Allies were looking forward to "The Great Reset" which would enrich those governments with more power over their populace.
Biden was merely the symbol that demonstrated that even the great United States, as a powerhouse, could be overtaken by chaos, and not even develop a timely response.
