To me it breaks my heart, after being deployed there for over a year and befriending many Afghans. Every single one hated the Taliban. I fear for their lives.

Back when Nixon put on some price controls, our local store had lots of bare shelves. Reminded me of pictures we had seen of Russian stores.

It also taught a valuable lesson - put price controls on everything you do not want to be available-shortages are easy peasy this way, and of course, you get to claim that you are standing up for the people.
