Senate Passes $3.5 Trillion Partisan Budget Plan, Clearing Way for Sweeping Government Expansion

The Senate approved the framework of a $3.5 trillion budget plan in a key procedural vote on Wednesday morning, allowing the body to move towards a final vote on the issue.

Senators voted to advance the framework 50-49 along party lines, with Senator Mike Rounds (R., S.D.) absent. The vote came just before 4 a.m. following a “vote-a-rama,” during which senators introduced amendments for largely symbolic votes designed to test the level of Senate support for various issues.

The plan provides for universal pre-kindergarten, free two-year community college, tax incentives for clean-energy sources to fight climate change, and an expansion of Medicare to cover dental, vision, and hearing. Democrats hope to cover the cost of the plan in part with tax hikes on corporations and high-earning families.

“Senate Democrats have just took a massive step towards restoring the middle class of the 21st century,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) said after the vote. “What we’re doing here is not easy. Democrats have labored for months to reach this point….But I can say with absolute certainty that it will be worth doing.”

Republicans unanimously opposed the plan, saying the amount of government spending in the proposal during a time of rising inflation is reckless.

Schmuckie, your name will live in infamy in the future. Where do they think the money is going to come from? I feel utterly powerless to stop this juggernaut... short of ... well, I'd rather not say.

They just took a massive step to DESTROY the middle class. We will be taxed into oblivion to pay for all this nonsense.

“Schmuckie, your name will live in infamy in the future. “

I disagree. The winners write history. These Dems will be hailed as heroes who ushered in the joys of communism to America!

The role of the assistant Democrats will be ignored, but is just as significant.

See my tagline.

Yes. Free this, free that, free everything! With government it is never FREE. Not to mention all the additional costs of administering this monstrosity.

The middle class won’t be destroyed. They’ll simply reduce their income and work under the table.

Yet NRO opposed Trump, IIRC.

The blame for this can laid at the feet of those same Republicans. If they had supported Trump and investigated the election fraud this would have never happened. Now we'll have to pay the price for their stupidity and accessory to the crime.

Some of us remember the massive growth of government spending when the GOP controlled Congress and the White House back in the 2000s.

The U.S. national debt grew by 105% during George W. Bush's term in office -- which outpaced even the Marxist Obama (70%).

Donald Trump comes off as a model of fiscal responsibility compared to those two @ssholes. The national debt grew by 34% during his four-year term, but almost half of that was the direct result of COVID relief measures during his last ten months in office.

The wild spending is an attempt to keep the stock market high.

But foreigners take foreign exchange rates into account and will sell US shares if they see US shares sinking in terms of Euros, yen or yuan.

The US dollar will then collapse, along with shares of companies that need Chinese-made goods, such as Wal-Mart, Amazon and Apple. Facebook and Google shares will sink as their advertisers lack Chinese stuff to sell.

Sell cold soda, not apples if you find yourself on the street.

The direct taxes will be horrific, but the hidden tax of inflation will be the final nail in the coffin of the middle class.

5 years ago McConnell wouldn’t help pass Trump’s $1 trillion infrastructure plan.

But now he celebrates a $3.5 trillion plan that is mostly not infrastructure but uses that word as a shield.

McConnell is the Swamp.

The middle class will be living as tenants or "homeowners" for the rest of their lives without paying a dime in rent or mortgage payments -- under a never-ending eviction/foreclosure moratorium.

#WINNING.

World-wide Oligarchical Collectivism is the goal of the Democrat Party, and it is well on its way to achieving it.

“Donald Trump comes off as a model of fiscal responsibility compared to those two @ssholes”

And he had to fight every inch of the way against the “Republicans” to get that.

You are right. But I don’t see a collapse yet. I remember when the debt went over 10 trillion. You would have thought we were dead country walking. Still here.
