NBC’s ratings for the this year’s Olympic games in Tokyo crashed from what they were five years ago in Rio de Janeiro.
The network is giving advertisers extra commercials to make up for the low viewership. On many days throughout the 17-day spectacle, viewership of the games clocked in at roughly half of what it was for the games in 2016, according to the Associated Press.
Had a free week trial of Peacock, and from the ads, you’d think it was the Pan-African games. Not that that was why I didn’t watch, but literally 95%of the athletes shown in promos were black. And I guess Snoop Dogg was one of the hosts (?!)
Co-worker asked me if I was watching it...Told her no, I could careless....
Maybe she was just trying to create conversation....possibly.
She is a low wattage person....
yup
I’ve been a fan of baseball and football for years, and now the only baseball I watch is minor league and the only football I watch is college. Minor league teams don’t have a lot of fans to lose, and so far I haven’t seen any political crap on their broadcasts. There was one ad for a major league affiliate’s BS pride night that flashed on the screen between innings, and that was it. It’s so refreshing to just watch a game. $40 a year and I can watch as many games as I want.
Still love college football, but I stopped watching Game Day because it went woke. Morons.
Olympic Games?
What Olympic Games?
We din’t watch no steenken Olympic Games!

she should just cover bobsledding though her colon
I guess I’m the contrarian. I watched a lot of the Olympics. There were many U.S. medal-winners who were proud to represent our country, and their effort deserves our recognition. At the same time, it was easy to avoid the U.S. woman’s soccer team and the other disgraces, because they were so well known. I thought the men’s and women’s swimming was very exciting. I thought the rowing and canoe/kayaking were reliably interesting. It was good to see two Italian women win gold and four Irish women win bronze in different water events. Yes, the disgraces were unfortunately well-represented in U.S. track and field, but, although NBC didn’t dwell on it, I am sure the majority were proud and thankful to represent the U.S.
I stopped watching the NFL when Kapernick took a knee.
I stopped Watching MLB when Bruce Maxwell took a knee.
I stopped watching the Olympics when Megan Rapinoe took a knee.
I stopped buying Nike. I don’t eat at Subway. I don’t shop at Target. I canceled my Amazon Prime account.....
I don’t miss any of it.
I watched it and I was moved when Sidney McLaughlin won her events and afterwords said “I give glory to God,” and “this is for the Kingdom of God.”
She’s Catholic, but the way...there were some touching, Christian and patriotic events at these games.
As for the Woke commentaries and promos, I just fast forward through them!
Ok, I admit it. I watched two clips of US wrestlers winning gold. Both were come from behind victories in the last seconds! One of the wrestlers was named after the famed Dan Gable. Thus, he could not lose!
The Belarusian defected to Poland, that was neat!
Same here. Not one minute of the Woke Olympics flickered across my screen.
I didn’t see it live, but the woman who fell in 1500m semis, and sprinted from last (other than the one who fell before her) to first in less than a lap was incredible. She also went on to win the 10000m the same day.
Wasn’t that neat?!
Goes to show ya, never give up, never surrender...
Didn't pay much attention though. Way, way, way too much volleyball, on and off the beach.
Best to watch it in Soanish or some other language. That way you at least learn something.
I have an idea how to increase the ratings next Olympics:
NUDE VOLLEYBALL!..........................
There was giving money to NBC (ratings) or not giving money to NBC.
That’s the reality of it. There really was no cheering for Americans that was just a feeling.
I try to keep giving money to people who want me dead to a minimum.
So I don’t watch NBC unless it’s OTA. Even then I consider the price too high if the commercials are a constant barage of leftist icons.
I’ve never been much of a sports watcher, but I remember the watching the 1980 Winter Olympus “Miracle on Ice”. Watched every game I could and felt proud of my country.
Now, I felt happy that the American hating women’s soccer time lost. And I feel sad for what my country has become. No need to watch the athletes representing us spitting on our county and flag.
