Unless you’re wearing an N-95, you’re just playing dress up

The N95 only protects the wearer.

Fortunately that’s not an issue I have had to deal woth. 🤣🤣🤣
But you are correct. I think even had 5 o’clock shadow will throw the seal off
When I have all the gear on appropriately - N95, face shield, gown and gloves i’m good for 10-15 minutes tops. It is exhausting. And hot.
I wouldn’t trust N95 or any respirator mask even if made in china or even other countries - these days who knows the quality or contamination that could be happening before they even get to consumer?
I used to do OSHA Hazardous Waste training and have probably fit tested over a thousand people and I’ll tell you the paper masks are worthless. They are dust masks. The N95’s won’t stop a virus. If you want to protect yourself from Covid with a mask it’s going to cost you. And if it isn’t fit tested for proper fit even a good one is worthless.
Correct. Even with an N95 mask, Covid particles move through like marbles through a chain link fence
Not true. Masks demonstrate your loyal obedience to our government masters.
I drown. I have a lot of allergy and sinus issues, and wind up all wet and basically drowning in my....effluvia :-)
Cloth masks do worse than nothing.
They give people a false sense of security so then they don’t properly distance. Or even worse, leftist protesters will get in the street wearing their virtue-signaling masks and then get right up in your face to yell at you.
When the person in front of me farts, I’d rather be 6 feet away with no mask than right behind them with one.
It’s not just CLOTH masks. No mask is effective against any Virus. This has been studied for years in the past. EVERY SINGLE PAST STUDY resulted in failure.
High-grade surgical masks are designed and shown to MINIMIZE (not eliminate) the transmission of BACTERIAL INFECTIONS in hospital settings. Virus’ are far smaller in size. They cannot be stopped by any mask.
Last year several Virologists and Immunologists described cloth and paper masks as the equivalent of putting a Chainlink Dome over your property to keep mosquitoes out.
So, let’s make sure all the public school kids are masked up.
Geez.
They follow some Weird $cience, these people.
Yup. basically you need a’PAPR with separate air supply or you are kidding yourself. The N100 may work not sure
My recollection as a tech in research was that wearing surgical masks helped prevent getting bacterial contaminants into the areas of the little animals I was working on. Many times they were immune compromised critters, so that we had wanted to have some idea of when they got sick, if it was really what we were doing, instead of happenstance. Always tried to get one less variable out of the way, though, yes, it was there. We wanted to minimize what bacteria the little creatures encountered. Viruses, not so much.
This is all complete BS!
Work places force us to mask up and never mind when you sneeze in your own mask!
The corrupt government is in charge and making us as if we're are the criminals if we do not comply!
While valve masks outwardly appear like a technological step up from a homemade cloth or a standard surgical mask, an old fashioned cloth or surgical mask is actually superior for the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are a few cons to these respirators. Even with different sizes, sometimes these masks do not fit properly and can leave gaps. They can be used only as long as they form a seal and after that, they should be disposed of. The seal can break from facial movements like yawning, laughing, and coughing and make the wearer vulnerable to virus transmission.
These masks should be handled with care and hygiene or they can get contaminated and might actually increase the risk of transmission. Additionally, people with chronic respiratory, cardiac, or other medical conditions that make breathing difficult should check with their health care provider before using an N95 respirator because the N95 respirator can make it more difficult for the wearer to use. Note that N95 respirators with exhalation valves should not be used when sterile conditions are needed. (cdc)
N95 respirators are not designed for children or people with facial hair. Because a proper fit cannot be achieved on children and people with facial hair, the N95 respirator may not provide full protection.
So it’s got some bugs. And getting them is a problem, also. There are a lot of fakes out there that are costly and don’t do the job. Be careful when purchasing.

Cost is also a problem. HAZMET SCBA suits can run from as low as $1100 up to close to $5000 with the TK555T Tychem TK® Fully Encapsulated Level A Coverall Back Entry suit. This top of the line suit comes with:
• Three-layer PVC faceshield
• Elastic wrists and boot flaps
• Double taped seams
• Two exhaust valves
• Expanded back
• Padded knees
• Attached socks
• Multi-layer laminated gloves
• Lime yellow fabric
• Rear entry zipper
• Double storm flaps with hook and loop closure
• Available in M - 4XL
• NAFTA/TAA compliant
If you have a real fear of the virus, this is the best there is. But they do wear out and require cleaning after use which can be a pain.
