Except, not going on Medicare is not an option when you hit 65.

I was forced onto it and I hate it. Our private insurance was far better, but that ended when I hit 65 and I had no choice. Not to mention the government threatens you with all kinds of stuff if you don’t sign up for Medicare.

Medicare is not government-provided health care. It is paid for by the employee all through his/her working life.
